Post counts and join dates

Hi there. I just noticed that the post counts and join date are no longer showing with each member's avatar. I thought it was a glitch until other people said it was taken off. Which one is it? Why is the info no longer there? Thanks!

Just noticed the same thing when I logged in this afternoon. Curious why they are not showing this info also......

Actually if you click on your user name at the top right corner and then go to Statistics, you can still see post count and the date you joined tPF.

As mentioned in the announcement, they are still viewable in people's profiles under "statistics".

We have had a lot of problems with bullying of newbies, this is a test measure to see if removing the info from the immediate view will help that. We are not the only forum having difficulty with long timers / established members not acting as kindly to newcomers as we'd like them to, this measure seems to help a bit in the long run.

I must be blind cause I just looked and couldn't find it. I just want to make sure I am looking in the right place for any annoucements.

Look under TPF Resource Center. This is wear the news & announcements are located..... as well as the Feedback Dropbox area is located.

I can understand the reasoning but it's a shame it has to be done this way. I have to say that I do look at this info sometimes to get an idea of how valid a person's post is or if someone seems to be a troll, etc. I know we can go look at the profile page but the convenience of the info being right there, will be missed.

I've seen on the H forum when it is someone's first post, there will be "welcome" posts that follow and hopes that they will continue to post, etc. This sort of welcome will not be feasible with the new system.

I think when a new name is seen, it is pretty obvious that they are a newbie ... either by what they posted or that the name is not familiar. So, I'm not sure how much this measure will help. Bottom line is, it's a shame that people are not being welcoming to newbies....

Well... just MHO, but that is a bunch of crap if members are being mean to newbies. I personally look at the post count and MAKE AN EFFORT to assist and guide newbies. Often they are unaware of the rules, unaware of where to post for help, etc...
Too bad... I liked seeing the post count, as it helped me spot the newbies and offer assistance. Newbies should be WELCOMED until proven otherwise! JMO.. I was a newbie not too long ago, and I was welcomed and assisted.

Ahhh...that makes sense, though the fact that it's even necessary is pretty pathetic. We're all newbies at one time or another! I do think seeing these stats was helpful if you thought someone was a troll, or if you wanted to welcome a new member, but I can completely understand the rationale. The info's still available, it's just not as obvious. Hopefully from now on everyone can follow the Golden Rule and keep TPF a great place to spend time on!

ITA- I don't care for this at all. I think the intention is good but when I answer a question I like to know how much information is needed by the poster. On the flip side when I ask a question I also like to know how "established" the repliers are to make sure that I'm getting reliable information.

I agree... tis nice to know if the poster to your query has "been around the block" awhile. And I am sorry... but I think it is HORRID that any pf'er is being "bullying" to newbies. As I said before, until proven othewise, a newbie should be a welcomed member... as is not ONE of the the "mottos" of TPF to "help and assist"? GOOD GRIEF! Tell the older members to GROW UP. Sorry.... but I was not long ago a newbie to TPF AND the Chloe/Bal forum (May 08) and EVERYONE has been SOOOO friendly, and SOOO welcoming, and SOOO helpful. I feel like I have been a member of this forum all my life... and MANY of these ladies.. whom I have never met IRL... are TRUE FRIENDS. I cannot imagine!! No one was EVER mean or bullying to me. This is truly SAD to hear!

Maybe this will have the added bonus of discouraging people from posting JUST TO GET THEIR POST COUNT UP. Not like anyone really does, that, of course...

This way, however, it will seem like less of a "competition" as to who has the most posts.
