Default How can I post the article in my threads?
I see some posters have the actual article in their post, in addition to the link. I think it just looks so nice.

How do they achieve this? I've only posted one article and finally gave up and just had to put the link. I could not get it to copy and paste.

Does the source matter. I don't know if it matters, I have a PC with Vista.

~Thank You~

Just copy and paste the article just like any other text.

It would not allow me to do it. Maybe the source was not allowing that to happen to protect copyright. I will try another article from another source and see if it works. ~Thanks~

Thank you. My source must have disabled copy post, for my first try.

I used photo posting thread to practice. Only the headlines from the site appeared even though I copied the whole article.

Reuters article on a topic come through perfectly.

yes, some sites reject right clicking {attempts to highlight and copy}

Yup, websites protect their content that way. There are some ways around it, though not always. First, you can google the article to see if you find it posted on another website or blog. If you find it somewhere else, you can try to copy and paste from that other website(s). If there's an option to email the article to someone, you could try emailing it to yourself, and if the article, not the link, shows up on the email, you can try copying and pasting then. You can also take a shot (kind of like a photo) of your computer screen using the "Print Screen" key on your keyboard, upload that shot from your temp files folder to a photo host website like Photoshop, crop the photo, save it, and post it here using the Insert Image feature....but that's just a pain in the butt. You might as well just post the link to the article and move on.

What might work is this: click on the "printer friendly" version of the article, and then see if a separate window pops up. Then you can cut/paste that text into the thread

Sometimes when you do that, it sends the article straight to your printer queue, so if it does that, just hit "cancel".

HTH!

I used to do that...have you noticed that a lot of websites are not offering a printer friendly version anymore? I guess they caught on to us...

If you'd like to offset text from the article from your own post, you can paste the article between [ quote ] and [/ quote ] (w/o the spaces)
