Computer & Electronics subforum.

I think it would be nice if we had a computer and electronics subforum. One that covers laptops, desktops, cameras, TV's, etc.. Even covering accessories too, including cute laptop cases and the like.

I'm kind of a techie now so I think it would be fun to share what programs are good, reviews, etc.

Sorry if this has already been suggested before!

Oh good idea...I am a gadget addict too and would love to read feedback, tips, tricks etc. on all kinds of gadgets.

Sorry if I'm the only one who feels this way but I'm starting to think that Gen Disc is transforming into the Genius Bar at the Mac Store. While I love all the valueable threads that there are started, there always seems to be 2-4 threads on the 1st page of gen disc about the same topics OVER AND OVER AND OVER!!! Mac vs PC. Which cell phone should i get? iPhone this and that. It can get a bit frustrating. I like to contribute to these threads b/c i have a good knowledge of that sort of thing but I am starting to feel like a broken record.

And yes the mods can close and tell the OP to search, or merge them, but I'm sure that gets old. How about something to combat this?

Like a sticky or chatterbox thread? (i highly doubt this subject deserves it own subforum IMO) My idea would ideally be a sticky somewhere that within it would have like 3 to 4 threads

Such as
Mac Chat
A phone one (can't think of a cute title)
And a camera one ect.

Maybe it could be put into TV and Movies b/c they are both electric? IDK

Anyone like the sound of that? Mods?

i personally think there are enough sub categories......it gets confusing when we keep adding more...kwim?Its up to Vlad and Megs but personally,i think thats what gen disc is for.

I just keep closing duplicates,its no big deal

Thats true. Its crazy to see how many subs there are since I first joined. I guess everyone has just gone tech crazy lately.

I would like to see a separate tech subforum (and suggested this a couple of weeks ago). I think it would make it easier to keep organized with as many tech-related threads as there are on here.

^^ Great idea! I'd like to see this too! I have also noticed that there have been an increasing number of tech-related threads in Gen Discussion.

I just wanted to bump this idea. I really think that if would fit in the same category as clothes, shoes, and jewelry or the playground.

i think a tech forum is a good idea too. all the whether or not to buy a mac threads and the which digital camera threads are a bit excessive

^^^ I people did a search or just scrolled down a few pages it wouldn't be an issue. Its so damn annoying when every day there is a new thread about the same things.

I'm going to revive this old thread.

I just posted this question up in the General Discussion sub-forum but got directed here. I'm really surprised there isn't an Electronic/Gadget sub-forum. I see at least 1 if not more threads being made everyday pertaining to the subject of electronics in the General Discussion sub-forum. I feel like the posters don't have a dedicated place to post something about electronics so they just post in the General Discussion sub-forum. From the first two pages I saw threads about the iPhone, the Sims 2 game, Nintendo DSi, Nintendo Wii, Blackberries, wireless cards, digital cameras, the kindle, etc. In the past I've seen a thread dedicated to the XBOX 360 and another member asked if anybody played the video game Halo 3. There's a lot of threads about electronics.

It would be nice to have a place dedicated to FAQs, new and upcoming electronics, fellow tPF video gamers, and so on.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I totally agree and would be happy to help out with it. I think it would be as active as several other categories such as animals.
