Default you have got to be kidding me

sold a bag on eBay. buyer wins for 172.50. the seller goes naru. i second chance offer it to the next person who's high bid was 170. the next high bidder after that would have been 155 but i didn't second chance offer them because it's less than i wanted for the bag. anyway the buyer takes the sco. i invoice them and then get this note:

Hi since the highest bid is only $155. So i should get a discount of $14 rite. Cos i just need to b a dollar higher. So can u please sent me the total price inculding the shipping cost.
i emailed her back that her high bid was 170 which is what i sco'ed her the bag for and also what she BOUGHT the bag for by accepting the sco. i also told her she's the one who bid the bag up to that price. what else can i do? i have a feeling i'm going to get trouble for this. but who the hell who buy a bag and then expect me to give them a 14 dollar discount? what is wrong with people these days?

Oh God...People are insane on eBay. I never noticed till I started selling some things I no longer use. Please, the experiences I've had lately would blow your mind. Ebay could be so cool sometimes but it's such a hassle other times. All I can suggest is to re-list it again. Those fees start to add up really quickly though. Sometimes it's just better not to deal with uncooperative buyers. Things could just get worse.

I'm not sure where she is seeing the highest bid as $155 but either way you sent her the offer for what she bidded and that's the amount she have to pay. Let her know that you rather cancel the transaction if you have to sell for that amount. People, jeez..

could someone explain to me the mechanics of a second chance offer? so if the item went for 175? and the winner goes awol..the second winner's bid is 155...then they must pay 155 right? or should they pay 175? sorry ive never experienced SCO's but i would like to know how it works? thanks!

I'm curious too. Can the seller set the price for the SCO? I'm reading it like this: buyer 1 won at 172.50, beating out buyer 2, whose highest bid was 170. Buyer 3's highest bid was 155. Now that buyer 1 is out of the picture, buyer 2's argument is that if buyer 1 hadn't come along, buyer 2 would have won at 156, since the next highest bid was only 155. I can see her agument, but since she accepted the second chance offer at 170, she should pay that.

Sellers cannot set the price for second chance offer, whatever the second bidder highest bid (in this case is $170) then that price is what the second chance offer price will be.

This buyer is just being a PITA because she think she can get away with it.

exactly!!! i can see her point but it doesn't matter. she bid it up to 170- bottom line. of course now she's not answering her emails.

do not sell it to her at 155.00 for principal alone.

if she doesnt want it... get your money back on her auction.... by putting on non-paying bidder.

Anyone that uses "cos" in a sentence is not someone I'd want to sell to anyway.

If she accepted the SCO then I would not refund her the $14. If she didn't want to pay that price then she should not have accepted it.

You are not obligated to refund her $14 and I would not refund her. She can take it or leave it at the price she accepted. OMG horrible.
