Default Would you still buy/bid (Insurance Concerns)
I am still fairly new to Ebay and am getting ready to make my first handbag purchase. I asked the seller if insurance was included or if this was something I would have to purchase additionally. Below was thier response. Can someone interpret:

"In regards to insurance, we self insure, so if anything were to be lost we'd simply replace it or refund your money. We've found that such a low instance of problems that insurance became a waste of our money. Instead, with each sale, we set aside money for each purchase to cover lost bags. Also, from what we've heard, it's beneficial to you as well because USPS can take up to 30 days to refund, and this way, if they lose your package, we take care of it immediately."

Is this the norm? Should it affect me still bidding/purchasing? Thanks in advance ladies.

Sounds like a good seller.

Provided you complete the purchase through eBay and pay by PayPal you are protected. Insurance is actually for the seller's protection, though you wouldn't think so from the terms some sellers try to inflict.

I'm not up to speed with the upper limits of coverage - up until several days ago I was still seeing £150 or £500 (UK site) on some sellers' listing, but I understand that all items paid thru PayPal are fully covered.

What's the approximate amount you'll be spending with this seller?

Scyllabub - Thanks for responding. I will be spending approx $300. If I am satisfied (first time buyer with this seller) I am certain to become a repeat customer as I love the bags she sells from my own personal experience of owning'loving others in the line. My current bags could always use additional friends to their clique At first I was a little apprehensive since I have never spent that much on Ebay before. This will definitely be done through PayPal. I am hopeful this will work out. Is there anything else I should keep in mind?

Well, I'm sure you've checked the feedback in detail. Any negatives, you may have to read between the lines because it's so easy now for non-paying buyers and other types of low-life to leave malicious, unjustifed negs.

Make sure you've read the description thoroughly and scrutinised the pics. Ask any questions before you bid.

Even if something goes wrong with your purchase, if you've done it by the book you will be covered, even in you are inconvenienced, say, by having to return the item, or having to take pics to show something 'not as described'.

It's generally preferable to fund large amounts (and I think $300 is large) with your credit card rather than bank account.

Good luck!

Scylla - it never hurts to have a second opinion. I keep going back and forth in my mind because if so many others had such good transactions with this seller, I can only be hopeful it works out for me as well. But when I read the crazy scams out here on this board, it certainly keeps me aware of the risk.

Thanks again.

You will be fine with this seller. Keep in mind when reading this forum that there is an old saying that always holds true: "If you get great service and love something you'll tell a few friends but if you have a bad experience you'll tell EVERYONE." Overall the majority of ebay transactions occur without a hitch and don't warrant a post on the forum.

You can also check the seller's negative feedback on
http://toolhaus.org/
I don't see any shipping problem but there are some complains from buyers for the actual condition of the items.
Although the seller has good ratings, I would make sure that the item is as described in the listings and there are no flaws.
Good luck!

@mydogsfriend - Do you know this seller personally? You seem adamant about me being able to trust in purchasing from them?

@gidramom - Thanks for the suggestion. I am familiar with toolhaus as I search inside out when considering buying/bidding from anyone. Yes, the few SNAD claims by some buyers worry me a little bit. That is the only condition that she accepts returns. For her listings, she takes a photo and has an x amount of bags available. I think it would be crazy to take pictures of every individual bag . I have to touch basis and let her know what I want to do next. In the event I would have to open any kind of claim since I am unaware of the process, how do you do that? Any other advice you can give when shopping for handbags?

No, I don't know them but looking over the fb, they might as well have 100%. One person was not happy with the size, one had a security tag still attached (honest mistake) and the other was not happy with the price since she paid more than what was on the tag. All instance were not the fault of the seller. And for a seller to maintain 5.0 DSR in all but one category is incredible. I wish I knew for sure where she was getting the bags from though...

Ebay took away the ability for sellers to add insurance costs in the shipping area. Therefore they have to add it into handling or into the start price, or eat it (or not use it).

Personally I wouldn't care if the seller has multiple bags in same style or not. She might say all the bags are same. But I would expect her to post or describe individually. Because as a seller, I do. On eBay, many NWT bags are from discount stores and outlets. So it's possible that bags have some sigh of try-on or flaws.

Filing claim is easy. You can just follow the link to the resolution center.

You might have to pay for return shipping in the end. I read somewhere on this forum that eBay has provided a shipping label for returns but I don't think it's guaranteed for all cases. PayPal's refund doesn't include return shipping.

I see the seller uses USPS Priority Mail, which has tracking numbers for the domestic shipping. And the seller is supposed to provide one for you. I've both purchased and sold bags on eBay. In my experience, USPS has never failed to deliver packages. But sometimes they get wacky and take more than they are supposed to.

Mydogsfriend: Me too. It certainly did occur to me that she could be getting them drop shipped from China or from some sot of "wholesaler" like ioffer, and the people who buy those bags don't necessarily know or care of they are not authentic. OP I really don't know what to tell you about this.

Oh.. I forgot about that. Just because the bags in the seller's listing are not dirt cheap. I agree... it's possible that they are coming from counterfeit distributors in overseas.

Hi ladies -- Thanks again for providing input. She says she has been selling this brand on Ebay for about three years and her bags come from Lucky. The bags aren't extremely too far out of season I noticed as I am always checking out the brand in stores and online. I imagine I have to take the plunge sometime. As long as I am protected, I have to take the chance. I'll keep you posted on the latest developments. If anything else occurs that may be of help, please share. Enjoy your night.
