Default Will Paypal side with me on this one?

I have only been selling on eBay a couple months now and have only sold 6 things. All of which went really well as far as prompt payment etc. Well I was very nervous about shipping internationally but I had a buyer in London and they had a confirmed address so I went ahead and shipped to them. I shipped through paypal so it has tracking. Well today I open my email and see that the buyer has opened a dispute saying they never recieved the item. However when I click on the tracking for the package it says it was delivered in Great Britain 2 days ago on Apr 28th!

Should I worry about this or will paypal clearly see that the item was delivered and realize this claim has no merit or will they allow this buyer to scam me? Anyone else ever had someone file a non-reciept when you can prove it was recieved?

I'm sure if you delivered to a confirmed address and can provide tracking, you're safe.
Also, if the item is valued over $250, a signature is required as well.

But from what you've said, it seems like you are protected under the Seller Protection Policy.

Thats good to know. The winning bid/value on the item was only $70 so I guess I am ok with not doing signature confirmation. This is just so upsetting I dont get how people think they can scam others out of their goods and get away with it. And the sad part is that even though paypal will be able to see that he is lying and trying to get something for nothing he will still be free to go back and try the same thing on someone else. I wish paypal would kick people out if they file false claims in situations like this, especially if someone does it repeatedly and I'm sure there are some out there that do it over and over.

If you have tracking and proof of shipping, I think you'll be fine!

Maybe it just arrived to the Britain post office and yet to be delivered? It appears that your covered and paypal should side with you. Good luck!

Well, don't immediately assume that they are trying to scam you. Sometimes post office delivers items to the wrong address - it happened to me once, I never received an item that was shown as delivered. The numbers, if handwritten, sometimes are misread. It could also be stolen from the doorstep. These things happen all the time. I am sure Paypal will not make you responsible for this (which probably sucks for the buyer in case the item is lost), but it's not always a scam.

Well I got to thinking about it and since the person only had 1 feedback and had not emailed me at all inquiring about where it might be, when it shipped etc,. I got to thinking perhaps they were new and don't know how to track using paypal etc so I thought I would email them and explain how to track it etc. So I emailed shortly after lunch today and said the following "Hi, I saw that you have opened a non-receipt dispute with paypal. I'm not entirely sure what has happened, the USPS tracking system says that your package was delivered on the 28th. You can view the tracking info from your paypal account. If you havent recieved it I would recommend contacting your local post office with the tracking info and asking them to help locate it. If I can be of any assistance to you in finding the package please let me know as I am happy to help. I hope we can solve this mystery and get you your item"

I just got a response: "Whatever. You're an idiot. Believe me I know how to use paypal."

I am trying to decide if I should respond and tell him where he can stick his package that he probably has had since the 28th or if I will just cut off communication and let paypal handle it. What a jerk.

Ubnbelievable. This person has no right to call you names. Please add this email to the Paypal dispute. Show you can use Paypal too! Sorry this happened to you.

You can report this as an agressive email with eBay.

International tracking wont show it's delivered to the specific location, only the country. you need to go to postoffice.com to find the post office website for great britain. That may show exact tracking. If not, you're SOL in Paypal's eyes.

definitely report that email. you have done nothing to warrant such name-calling. include it in your dispute as well. if they escalate the dispute to a claim, just include your tracking number and also state that you can provide proof of shipment.

This is a perfect example of why it's much easier to ship/track/ deal with US shipping only. It's true that you may be able to get a better bid internationally, but in the long run, tracking & proving delivery is much easier to the US.

Paypal & eBay need to provide better protection to sellers willing to ship out of the country.

Personally, I won't take the chance.

Well I had not had any communication with the buyer since they called me an idiot. And the paypal claim has gone nowhere yet, the tracking info is posted etc and I guess waiting for paypal to decide etc. But today I get an email from the buyer saying, "this item was unable to be delivered to me so the postal force tells me they returned it to you already so you just need to go ahead and give me a refund."

He really must think I am an idiot. His address was confirmed, the tracking says DELIVERED, and nothing else in regards to being undeliverable, returned to sender etc. I also noticed that his feedback of 1 is now a 0, he got a negative stating "Ripped me off! Beware this Buyer!" This has taught me a lesson, I dont know that I will ever ship outside the US again.
