Default Why even pay for best offer???

I am wanting to buy a keychain off eBay and the asking price is 71.99. The retail is $48 or so.. but it is a HTF item. There is a best offer so I thought I could try.. why not? I offer $60.. auto-decline.. 65.99.. auto decline.. 67.99.. auto-decline! WHY?? It's not like I am offering $10. Why even pay for best offer if you are going to decline offers 4 dollars from your asking price... that is just stupid IMO.

They probably have it set at $70.00.

I think best offer is actually free. That would be why.

Some sellers do the weirdest things. There is no explaining!

Yes, the BO option is free if you do store inventory or Fixed Price listings .
I usually set to Auto-Decline at anything 15-20% or less discounted off the value of a $1500+ item depending on the condition. I totally agree, why set it up if you're not willing to actually negotiate?

I always thought you had to pay extra.. but maybe you used to and now they changed it.. hmm.. Well anyway, if you are firm in your price then why even do it? If it is set to $70 then why not BIN for $70?

I allways stick my BIN over what a want and let the offers come in around what im looking for.

Sometimes the high BIN can put buyers off - but if they made me an offer they'd have a nice surprise :) x

I've had some of those lately--and someone bit on one of them. I was *SO* happy to sell that dress, too!

Does anyone actually get decent Best Offers? The last time I tried it, I got a bunch of $100.00 offers on a LV Multipli-cite that was in very good used condition... Uh huh, like I am going to sell an authentic LV that retailed for $1450 for $100.00

Because then someone will want something lower than that...there is always going to be buyers who want to get a bit more of a deal than what the list price is. Makes 'em feel better I guess.

I got a decent offer on a Marni dress, but that was because it was the only real one on eBay since that collection came out. I had the auto-decline on too, so if someone sent me some $10 offer, I didn't even have to deal with it. I remember the days before the auto-decline...bad....

I can never figure out what buyers or sellers are thinking. I've actually had 2 items with a BIN or Best Offer and each one used the BIN. I would have taken less if they had submitted a best offer. I wasn't complaining, just found it strange.

Ahhhhhhhhh, auto decline! Will have to use that the next time I try the Best Offer... even though eBay says you should not discourage your buyers. But hey, they won't let me list authentic designer bags either so what do they know?

I offer around 10-15% less and always get declined.

Its probably because of the cashback rewards that is going on. It can only be used with buy it now auctions.
