Hi, I am an seller on eBay and I have had SEVERAL problems with Customs in Germany-after many attempts working my way up the USPS ladder I was told that alot of packages that arrive thru USPS to customs get abandoned or "lost" because they will never "return to sender". So I've lost quite a bit of money since that's happened (not the buyers fault) so I no longer ship to Germany either. I'm not sure why some packages don't make it thru customs anymore.

I've shipped to Germany 4 times. Three of out the 4 resulted in some sort of problem. No more shipping to Germany for me.

Because some people had a few bad experiences and decided Germany itself was the hotbed of scammers. I remember a few months back I saw a thread that said 'Germany has become very scammy these days'. It made me very angry. Unless you've done a million transactions, you have no right to stereotype their whole country as 'scammy'.

So really, i'm very, very livid at the specific mention of no shipping to Germany and i'm fairly sure that's a form of discrimination.

I second EVERYTHING you wrote here. The French buyers are also lovely. I am very surprised about people not wanting to ship to Europe right now, especially coming from the US- they have money to spend that the US needs and it just takes understanding on the shipper's part to fill out the Customs forms correctly. All of this ranting about things being overcharged, etc. are 90% of the time the fault of the shipper not filling out the information correctly on the form.

I completely agree with this too. I have had way more scammers from the US than in Europe, for what it's worth, and I would never assume that the majority of the people in that country are as such! There are rotten apples in every bunch

I LOVE shipping to Europe--with the dollar so low, the transaction is a great deal for everyone! I've only had one problem once and that was with a loony from Denmark, but I'm pretty sure that she was an American student studying abroad.

One of the problems with the customs forms is that a good part of the time the person at the post office doesn't know how to fill them out, either.

I don't because most of my items are over $400 and the last few times I tried to ship expensive items there via USPS the most affordable option the USPS cap on insurance was $400 or $450. I think I have faced an insurance cap for Australia before also. Though an option is to use Fed Ex or someone else which will be much much more expensive.
