Question What does this mean?

So I listed an item on Sunday for a 10 day auction - as of now 3 days have gone by. I started the auction at $1.00 with a reserve (to protect close to what I paid) and a BIN option.

Well in 3 days I have 20 watchers 100 hits but no bids! What gives? Why all the watchers but no bidders.

People have this theory that bidding before the end unneccessarily ups the price bc you put in your max bid and people will pick at your max to try to see if they can outbid you it if you bid early.

That has happened to me many times, and within a day of end someone starts the bidding. If it is a good item, they will all bid within the last 5 minutes or so...

I find that some of my auctions, one person was the winning bidder the whole time. They really really wanted it and put in their absolute max and rode it out. But most of the time, it all happens in the last hour or so...

I have given up on 10 day auctions. Honestly it all happens in the last few minutes. But lots of people will be getting ready for the end so just enjoy watching the auction at the end...

Last week I had bids on 9 different items before they closed, I had around 70 or so watchers between different items. By time my items ended I had 27 items with bids all that came at the last minute!

Good luck!

Okay I feel a bit better. I just hope I get SOME bids. None at all (but with 20+) watchers is making me nervous. I'm worried that people just want to see how high it goes or if it will sell - not necessarily to bid, ya know?

I have that happen with my auctions all the time. People like to wait until the last minute. Or they are using an auction sniper and bidding in the last few seconds. It kinda sucks, but people are usually just trying to get a good deal.

It could help if you disclosed your reserve. As a buyer I usually get put off by reserve prices where starting bid is way way low. Even if it might be a bag I desire, I give it a miss.

In terms of "getting a deal" - don't most bidders assume that the reserve price is somewhat close to the BIN price? People really don't expect that I'm selling a $500.00 item for $30.00. Do they?
