Default waiting for payment...

the auction on my item ended about 30 hours ago...and i'm just sitting here tapping my fingers waiting for the buyer to pay. i've sent an invoice out already and am just hoping she hasn't check her email yet. she has 48 positive ratings, 100%. it's just kinda nerve-wrecking waiting for payment when it's a pretty expensive item. i guess all I can do now is wait, give her a call in a few days, and if by day 7, no payment, i file a NPB?

It is tough waiting but try and relax. You could be stressing out for no reason. I find that when someone wins a Thursday or Friday auction and they don't pay right away, they usually pay sometime on Sunday. They probably figure that their item won't be mailed out until Monday so why pay earlier.

You can't file until the 8th day. I think its a good idea to contact/remind them around the 4th day and then give them sort of a final warning right near the end.

I would take it easy, it's the weekend. Did you specify immediate payment? Buyers have 7 days to pay regardless, per eBay rules, but I have found most will pay within the timeframe I ask (3 days). You never know the circumstances, it may have been a snipe bid and the person is away for the weekend, or like me, unless it's a BIN with immediate payment, sometimes I'll just pay for any weekend wins on Monday morning.

Yes, you should really wait til 7 days have passed. Maybe she is waiting for end of month for payday.
There is no harm sending a friendly message asking when she plans to make payment though

Yep, I recently sold something to a buyer with over 700 positive feedback...I waited all week, sent numerous invoices and messages, and heard nothing. Finally at the end of the week, I found their phone number, so I called them and they said they'd call right back. I never heard from them again, even when I tried to call again.

I hope it turns out better for you. I am so frustrated with eBay right now.

Try not to worry. She'll either pay or she won't. You'll get your fees back and be able to relist by filing NPB. I hope that she's just lazy and will pay today. btw... my dh is notorious for doing this. I have to bug him or pay it myself.

Actually, this isn't true. eBay has NO RULE regarding how long buyers have to pay for their item. Buyers are to pay according to the payment terms of the sellers auction. If the sellers auction says that payment is due in 1 day, 5 days, 7 days 10 days, whatever - then those are the terms the buyer has agreed to when they win an auction according to eBay.

What eBay DOES have a rule regarding, however, is that the seller can not file a NPB (non paying bidder) dispute until the 8th day after payment has not been received. For some reason, this leads people to think that "buyers have 7 days to pay regardless, per eBay rules" which again, is not true. These are two completely different issues.

Sometimes it takes the buyer a few days to pay, even when I state in my auction that the payment is due within 48 hours I still have to wait. Don't get to worried yet.

So sorry if that information is incorrect. I am going by an email received from eBay, when I contacted them about someone not paying for an item they won after my 3 day payment period (this was some time ago). They told me that a buyer has 7 days to pay for the item, regardless of what terms I put in my listing, and that I could file a NPB on day 8. Again, sorry if the info. was incorrect, I was just stating what they told me!

Oh no, please don't apologize! I just wanted the OP to know that her buyer needs to abide by the terms of the auction regarding payment. It's the seller who establishes the TOS, not eBay. Hmmmmm....I'm not sure what happened with your auction a while back but I'm thinking that the employee who emailed you was giving their opinion that you may as well wait 7 days for payment since you can't file for fees until the 8th day anyway. This is what many people do. But it's not a rule.
