Default WAAAAHHHHH !!! I need a little sympathy, please!
I went on a "bidding under the influence" frenzy not too long ago, and bought some stuff I could NOT afford. When the dust all settled, I decided I was going to keep one item, and sell the rest. I assured DH it would all be okay.

Now bear in mind, I've sold on ebay since 1998, and am (usually) well aware of the pitfalls for unsuspecting sellers. Sigh...... I just priced out delivery confirmation thru Canada Post, and it will cost $54.10 to ship any of these items to the US, to get del conf. And they are fairly high-end items -- I would NOT risk sending them without del conf, especially as I want the Paypal protection. So now I guess I won't be listing them, sucking up the loss and moving on. Even if I show $15 as the cost to ship (and eat the other $40/item shipping) I can't afford to cover that for them, especially if the bidding doesn't go high enough to get my original cost back. And then if someone wants to return one, I'm even FURTHER in the ditch. OMG.

Sigh..... I guess I learned an expensive lesson. Oh well, now I have some lovely things that I can't afford, that I can enjoy using! Sigh....

What if you list them on BONZ to save on the FVF fees (to cover postage)? Only a $5 selling fees for items under $1000.

Ooooooh, THAT'S a good idea -- and I can specify my selling price, can't I? Hmmmmm, thanks Ellie Mae -- your idea is MUCH better than just sympathy!

Yes, on Bonz you list BIN. And you can OBO if you want offers. And specify shipping cost & to where you will ship. AND, under ADV OPTIONS, where it says "allow BIN" you can check NO, and then when an item is added to someone's cart, you have to actually APPROVE the transaction prior to the buyer paying. This gives you an opportunity to screen your buyer and check their location/shipping costs b4 they pay.
If items don't sell, then you keep them, no cost to LIST. So, you've nothing to lose for trying.
I personally LURVE BONZ.

Bonanzle is a little slow in terms of sales, though. You're gonna need to be really patient. It's not as speedy quick as Ebay since not a lot of people know about Bonz. But on the bright side, at least their fees are bearable (and the CS super nice).

Bonz is a lot like a retail consignment store. No bids, you can just buy the item in one click. It's super convenient and you won't need an account either. I love Bonz too.

Bonanz it great, but have you considered shipping in a prepaid priority box. You pay for the size of the box, not the weight. I've found this helpful when I ship internationally.

How does their cost compare to your Blessed Shopping Season Gift Budget and Giftee Roster?

You might be able to set them up with shiny new careers as Very Special Feast Day Gifts!

Selling on Bonanzle is great but it takes awhile to sell your stuff. The big plus is the fees are wayyy cheaper than ebay. Good luck!

You know that in shipping to Canada - UPS is cheaper than USPS. They have tracking and signature conf as well. You can also do it online.

But don't forget that the buyers get charged a brokerage fee with UPS, so it can turn out to be much more expensive for them.

Thanks, everyone! I'm going to do some research on what kind of protection I get as a seller on Bonz if I don't use signature confirmation. I'd be totally hooped if someone decided to claim they didn't receive an item and I automatically got charged for it. I might try Craigslist and Kijiji, too, though I suspect there are NOT a lot of people looking there for designer stuff. I'm also going to go back to the Canada Post site and see if there are other services, that I may have overlooked.

Meanwhile, my angst has died down a bit. A bit. And thanks again -- you people are the BEST

According to PP US User Agreement (Check yours in Canada) NON-EBAY transactions do not qualify for PP Buyer Protection, only Buyer COMPLAINT.
  1. What is the PayPal Buyer Complaint Policy? It is PayPal’s process to help you resolve a problem directly with the seller through the PayPal Resolution Center for purchases that are not eligible for PayPal Buyer Protection.
The PayPal Buyer Complaint Policy is similar to PayPal Buyer Protection in that it enables buyers to file Disputes for Items Not Received (INR), or for items that are Significantly Not as Described (SNAD). By filing a Dispute, you can communicate with the seller and attempt to resolve the problem. If you are unable to resolve the problem, you may escalate an Item Not Receive (INR) Dispute to a Claim – but you may not escalate a Significantly Not as Described Dispute to a Claim. You may not file a dispute for a Personal Payment.
Even though you may escalate an Item Not Received Dispute to a Claim, you are not guaranteed recovery. If the Claim is decided in your favor, your recovery is limited to the amounts that PayPal can recover from the seller’s Account.
  2. What is the process for the Buyer Complaint Policy? Similar to PayPal Buyer Protection, you must file a Dispute in the PayPal Resolution Center within 45 days of the date you sent the payment. Once you have done so, you should attempt to resolve the Dispute directly with the seller.
  3. What happens if I am unable to resolve the Dispute directly with the seller? You may escalate the Dispute to a Claim within 20 days of the date you filed the Dispute. PayPal will make a final decision for some - but not all - Claims. You should not escalate a Dispute for Significantly Not as Described (SNAD) to a Claim because PayPal will not make a decision on a SNAD Claim under the PayPal Buyer Complaint Policy.
  4. What if PayPal makes a final decision in my favor? If PayPal makes a final decision in your favor, we will collect any available funds in the seller’s PayPal balance at that time. However, recovery is not guaranteed and is limited only to the amounts that PayPal can recover from the seller’s Account. Any amounts collected from the seller will be placed in your Account.
13.6 Extended Buyer Protection
  1. What is Extended Buyer Protection?
Extended Buyer Protection is additional coverage for eligible Buyer Complaint Policy Claims that is available to you when you make a payment through PayPal and use your PayPal Plus Card, PayPal Buyer Credit, or PayPal Pay Later or Bill Me Later as your payment method.
  2. What extra coverage do I get with Extended Buyer Protection?
If you win an Item Not Received (INR) Claim under the PayPal Buyer Complaint Policy, PayPal will reimburse you for the full purchase price of the item, plus original shipping costs.

Read your PP User Agreement for Buyer & Seller protection.
BUT... I'd not ship w/out sig confirm, irregardless. AND... you'd still have to worry about CC charge backs.
