You're doing a great job on this tracking. I like how you are presenting it so the scammer gets to sweat a bit. Obviously she can't backpedal now and say the card has arrived since it's been used. Should ask her if she's found anything on her end!

I'm familiar with Waverly Place, it's part of the NYU Campus, I wonder if it's a student messing with this whole thing.

I'd contact Barney's asap and ask them to hold the camera footage for the days she was in..
I think they keep the tape for 30 days, but just in case.

If you file a case, and get on them(Barneys), this person won't be able to buy there again without getting busted.

Depending on how far you want to take this and if you have the resources..
hire a P.I to see what she looks like and if she's friends with a 'Margo'..
Give her 'updates' and let her know you're not letting this go and you have 'friends' in the area that are helping you..
also add..
'perhaps a friend of yours 'borrowed' it without telling you. Do you know a Margo? If this is the case..
you can contact PP and let them know it was recieved and we can forget this'..

Give her an 'out',
and hope she uses it, because it going to be a pain to track this down.

I know this because I tracked down someone who sold me a fake watch.
It's nice to have friends in high places :)

Id love to see this chick nailed.

You guys are great. I have my local salesperson at Barneys (I see I gave away the store lol^^) looking into this, I gave him the card number and he is going to check the system for me...

What I want is to find out which register and salesperson helped her. Remember she was there 3 times in one week! I know I can find out more.

I also did a fraud complaint through the Postal Inspection Service.

I am sorry to hear about this.

But you are definitely on the right track in pursuing this by all means.

Barney's I would think would want to work with you secuirty tape etc.

And file away wherever you can.. police report, etc.

Good luck to you

I'm very curious what the outcome of this will be. If she is indeed scamming you (and it sounds like she is), then I hope she will be punished to the fullest extent of the law. This may sound harsh but if she is so ballsy about doing this with you, she's probably done it before and if not caught, will not hesitate to do it again.

Oh the things you can find with Google.

After doing search of the names and locations-

The buyer's seller account states that she is in Ohio, the gift card was shipped to someone with the same last name in New York City.

I assumed the buyer was a daughter and the card was shipped to her mother.

Well, it looks like they are sisters (The buyer with the ebay seller account is 38 years old and the recipient with the same last name in NYC is 27 years old)

I googled the address and it is an apt building in NYC with a few units for sale right now. Not a very large building either.

I even know where the powerseller(buyer of the gift card) works- THANKS LINKEDIN!!! :) She is a FINANCIAL CONTROLLER for a company which is scary.. I also found their Twitter accounts.

I am anxiously awaiting the Post Office's response and praying for some kind of signature..

OP.. I have a question... you say the card was bought by one person, shipped to another? Did you ship to the address on the paypal transaction page?

Oh yes, I sent to address on the transaction page.
The buyer was one name (Buyer is a powerseller on ebay) The send to had the same last name.

I would have told her Barney's is capturing a photo off the videotape and alerting all their employees to be on the lookout for the photo. That it's printed and is on the wall in the Loss Prevention office of each store.

Hey everyone, I have been frequenting Ebay's message boards and was told I MUST CALL EBAY and speak to someone in Fraud. Well I did.

I vented for about 3 minutes with every detail that I have, a very cool woman named Venus went through this person's account and found a few things that she wanted to get supervisors involved with. She said to give her 48 hours... Said she couldnt give me details and I said "But its something that can help my case" She said "Yes."

I cant believe the nerve of this woman - she's very slick. She saw that the website didn't update either b/c of a glitch or the postman forgot to scan it but she is running with the fact that it didn't and she knows very well PP will side with her because it doesn't show as being "delivered".

She files it after the last date of exchange smh

cant wait for your update

Default Personalized email from the Ebay Rep I spoke with
Not a form email, seems personalized- I took out my name and her full name:)

Dear
I'm sorry to hear about the problems you have been having with your
buyer. I've actually helped others in the past with similar situations
and I know how frustrating this cant get and I want to get this resolved
for you. I should have a answer for you tomorrow on this as soon as my
supervisor gets in. I will have her take a look at it and if she decides
to forward it I will e-mail you. I would wait on leaving the feedback
until this done but it is your choice. If you want to reach me you can
just reply to this e-mail and it will come directly to me. I will make
sure you are taken care of if you have any questions just know that we
will take care of you. Thank you.

Sincerely,
