Default Using different user IDs to harass and leave negatives

Hi everyone,

Here is my story, any help would be appreciated:

A few months ago I unknowingly bought a fake from a seller on eBay. He was very abusive and cursed at me. I had no choice but to file in Paypal, and I ended up winning and Paypal made him refund me after I sent the fake back.

Since then, he has been threatening me by email constantly.

A few days ago, he (under a different user ID) bought something from me and left a negative feedback. It is the same address, different user ID and different name. Clearly malicious feedback.

He sends me more emails now threatening that he will continue to do this. I have reported him to eBay, but will they do anything? I am thinking about ending all my listings and give up on Ebay. I do not use Ebay a lot and don't sell very many things so 2 or 3 negatives really bring my score down.

I'm at my wits end, and ready to get off eBay.

i have no idea what you should do other than contact eBay via "live chat" and explain it to them. if he has not paid for an item he should not be allowed to leave feedback. i once thought of doing just this to this seller who refused to send a bag that i had won because she did not like the auction price. i eventually got over it, but i must admit when i saw her relist the bag much higher than what i won it for i thought of doing it again. i wonder why this man hasn't got over this transaction? especially if he is the one at fault.

If the threats are personal (meaning against your person) contact the police in his town. I had a disgruntled eBayer threaten me & my kids once - the police took care of her.

I don't know why hes not over it either. It has been 2 or 3 months since I bought that fake item from him. He was abusive from the start, and probably of the sort with too much time on his hands. He got really mad when I was able to obtain proof from caroldiva to win the dispute.

I didn't even leave negative feedback for him, I think he is just mad because he failed to swindle me like he originally planned to do. Now he is threatening to leave me negatives from multiple screen names.

The thing is, I don't use eBay a lot so I don't have too many feedbacks, and with 2 or 3, my percentage is very low.

This guy, on the other hand, sells 300+ items, under many different names.

Has anyone had experience with this? I reported him, but will eBay do anything?

Also, the threats are not personal (i.e. hes not saying hes going to kill me or anything). He says things like "I will bring you down," "I have a feeling you will get many negatives soon" and curses at me.

If you need to sell on eBay, I would open another ebay account and leave the current one alone. Since you say you have little feedback, a new account won't make much difference unless the things you are selling are high value items. Then maybe some sellers may not bid on your items at much.

Threaten him with the police and he might back off.

Copy all the emails and send them to eBay.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. Imagine being mean to someone because they wouldn't let you swindle them?! What a creep!

I'm sorry this is happening to you. I suggest opening a new account that is in no way linked to your old account. Buy some small, cheap items to get some feedback and then start selling in a month or two. You can also use a consignment seller if your items are expensive.

I agree with the above posts...report him, send eBay all your email contact from him, and open a new account. What a jerk, I hope they ban him.

Why on earth would you ship to that address again? Even if he wins the auction, he is obviously going to leave you a negative. If he ever wins another auction, and you see that address pop up, report him. This falls under "malicious buying". Here's the link: http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/report_problem.html . Report this a**hole immediately! He needs to be watched.

Also, you need to block him from sending you e-mails. Just add him to your blocked list, and if he sends you more messages, block those e-mails. Report him to your local police if he continues to send messages.

Then if he contacts you through eBay's messaging system, reply to him in a very matter of fact way, and ask him to not contact you anymore as you consider it harrassment. Then if he contacts you again using their system, contact the links that the others have provided concerning the malicious e-mails, etc.

If someone continually harrassed me via e-mail, and continued to do so after I had blocked his e-mail, I would contact my local police as he seems to be a bit unhinged.

I would also contact eBay and tell them what has happened in this instance. Retaliatory feedback is not allowed. You are not allowed to buy something just so you can leave negative fb for someone. You should not have to close your account. He should be banned from Ebay, and if you have the e-mails, etc., and you take the time to report this, then he will be banned.

Good luck to you, and I know how upsetting this can be - and you really do need to report this jerk to the police if he continues with his harrassment of you.

Big hugs to you, girl!
