So I received my item today - the posted price on the box was $1,200.00 - but it was just left at my home. How long until I know if I will be charged a customs fee or not?

TIA!

I'm pretty sure that if you were going to be charged you would have gotten a bill with it, right?

I'm super curious about this too, as I've never gotten a customs bill but want to know how it works on the US side.

Here in the uk we won't get our package until we pay the customs fee, is it the same in the US?

I have received items from out of the country and NEVER had to pay a fee.

It would not have been left if you owed $$ on it.

What carrier did it come through? Many such as Fedex will bill you after the fact. If this is the case, you'll receive a bill through mail in about 7-14 days.

I get packages sent to me from all over the world, mostly handbags, and I have never had to pay any customs fees.

Neither have I. I didn't even realize that we pay a customs fee in the U.S.

Maybe because we're paying outrageous gas prices instead???

I've paid customs before on a chloe paddy. Fed ex, bill came after the fact. It was roughly 10% on a....1300$ or so bag. This was a few years ago, and from lvr.

If it is thru usps, there should not be a customs fee. They only charge you custom fees if you have boxes and boxes from the same sender ship to you at one time. Then yu would of gotten a call to go down to your customs office to pay, the the release your item.

With FedEx and UPS, the bill will come later in the mail, about 7-14 days.

I bought a pair of Fendi shoes from Italy that were delivered by UPS. They left me a notice stating that I needed to write them a check for $30 to cover customs fees and then they would re-deliver the package. I have received lots of things from other countries via USPS and have never had to pay any customs fees. Stupid UPS!

USPS will collect the Customs fee at the time of delivery before the package is released to you. So, if it was left at your door you don't have to pay any Customs fee.

Sorry for beein off topic.

We pay around $9 per gallon here in Germany and around 25% customs for a handbag. Now that's outrageous .
