Default Unreasonable buyer, please help!!!

Okay, so I mailed out the item on the 17th; as it is heavy I used Parcel Post, which still cost me $20 , and today the buyer filed a dispute with Paypal that froze my account with negative balance! She asked me before purchasing how long it would take for her to receive her item; I said a week to two weeks, but I forgot to mention that in some cases it can even take up to three. She emailed today saying that she's waited way too long and wants her money back, but the item is still on the way! My negligence in forgetting to add tracking on this one; I only have the postal receipt, now what should I do???!!! I also have auctions I won that I need to pay for too, but if I add funds into Paypal to unfreeze the account then she may take both the money and the item when it arrives! Please advise on possible measures I can take, I'm so upset I don't even know what to think! Granted, the item sold for about $125, so it's not an irreparable loss, but still...

First of all, have you provided any tracking information to PP? If not, perhaps you should so you can prove that it has in fact, been shipped. I think they are freezing your funds because unfortunately there are too many sellers out there who don't ship anything. Perhaps by showing that you have in fact shipped the item, like you said you have the receipt, then that will make them unfreeze your funds.

Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with funds being frozen in my PP account. So I apologize if I'm not recommending the correct method.

Hang in there.

I guess this is a good lesson!

ALWAYS ship w/ tracking and signature.

It's worth the extra dollars in the long run.......

Anyway, perhaps scan your receipt and email to the buyer and paypal as proof of shipment.

^I wasn't trying to save money; something came up and so I can't believe I forgot...now I guess the only thing I can do is to curse my negligence.

Should I escalate to a claim? Can I send in a scan of my receipt to Paypal when this case has not been heightened to a claim yet?

unfortunately if you can't show the item as delivered when it is delivered they could keep the item and the refund that Paypal will surely give her. Did you insure it?

No, I didn't put anything on it I can't believe I didn't! Now I really feel like crying. So this is a hopeless fight even if I send in my receipt as proof of shipment?

this seems to be happening alot...and paypal usually goes with the buyer i am finding out the hard way myself. while mine was only 22 bucks in all, still it is the principle here...I am done with eBay and paypal before it costs me any more!!

If there's no tracking PayPal will automatically side with her. Unfortunately she could literally receive and keep the item and if she still pursues the PP dispute, have her money back too. For anything under $250 PP requires a delivery confirmation, and $250 and over a signature confirmation. You may be out your money and your item. Hopefully she gets it and is honest and drops the PP dispute.

^^I know! It's so unfair...and as it was a massive package, can you imagine the cost of the dc and insurance if I were to pay for it myself? I was already selling the item for way less than it is worth, and now this... I think I'm just going to drop selling altogether now, and if I do sell occasionally, I'm going to require the buyer to purchase insurance and dc, otherwise I'm just not going to ship. It would be so much better to be left with at least the item than none at all!

^^That's what I was hoping too, when I calmed down and reasoned carefully I found that to be the only possible choice. I just hope she doesn't escalate the dispute to a claim immediately, so that if there's a few days the item may just show up by itself...and then I can only trust in her honesty.
