Angry This is why I am NEVER selling intl' again!!!

I knew this would happen sooner or later. I read all the posts on here of all the horror stories and learned to not sell high ticket items on eBay. I've been selling on ebay for a few short years now and limit my bidders to US and maybe sometimes Canada..and very rare to offer bidders internationally.

I listed a few limited edition MAC lipglosses in MAY..had a buyer buy 2 of them from Brazil. This time I opened the auction to EVERYONE worldwide in hoping to get higher bids.

They spent close to $40.

Item shipped off together the next day they paid.

And todayyyy..its been almost 2 months since this sale, I sign into my eBay & they claim they never received it and opened a dispute on ebay.

ARGH! I just woke up and this made me so angry. I dont know if its because this buyer cant speak ENGLISH to message me and ask if the stuffs been sent or not. NOTHING!

$40 isn't a whole lot compared to what others have lost on eBay. But $40 is a small chunk for me especially now days! :(

They haven't filed a dispute with pay pal, thank goodness. Hopefully its because they dont know how and perhaps I'll just deal with a negative feedback or something.

Unforunately NOT! It went via usps 1st class so no D.C. :( Not sure if you're from the U.S, but if you send something internationally and it goes by regular mail, theres no proof. So it gets sent off and just corss your fingers to hope it gets there or at least hope the buyer is honest in receiving it.

I have no proof.

Unfortunately by sending the items USPS first class (without tracking, delivery confirmation and even insurance) it is your word vs. your buyer's and she'll likely win the dispute because you cannot prove you sent it or that it was delivered.

I'm sorry for this, Louis Lady, but I don't think this should deter you from selling/shipping internationally again. Just use USPS EMS with tracking, insurance, delivery confirmation and even signature confirmation to protect yourself next time. Even for smaller amounts, it's important to protect yourself in the event of this type of dispute.

ETA: I don't mean to offend you but I think it's rude to assume that non-US buyers cannot speak English to communicate with you. Remember she read your auction (presumably written in English, right?) when she bought the items. And English is one of the most spoken 2nd, 3rd or even 4th, 5th, etc. languages (in addition to someone's native language) on the planet.

I know, i know. I said that I didn't know if this person did speak it or not, assuming thats the reason why they couldn't even write me a personal message to ask me if its been shipped or not yet or where it is at. No communication came from the buyer so thats the only reason I would assume they didn't contact me and be so silent. I apologize if that offends anyone.

Can't you track the customs form number? You would have had to fill out a customs form, no?

I had one 8 months later and I had delivery confirmation. Still ended losing this. It cost me $150.

Why I lost this case is beyond me - eBay doesnt give you anything but a standard reply of i lost. Asses.

I def did. I didn't know you could use that as a type of proof of sending out? but being a sale thats almost 2 months ago I don't have the records laying around anymore.

Yes, I am screwed. Luckily this isn't over a crazy amount of money. They haven't opened a dispute via Pay Pal.

Its OK it wasnt offensive, I would assume that too. I have had buyers from abroad who have trouble communicating. Its not offensive, after all they are better at another language than we are.

I keep all of my mailing receipts for a year. I file taxes on my eBay sales, so I have to do that, but it's not a bad idea for those who don't. Anytime you ship internationally, be sure to get a signature confirmation. I think that is much more convincing to PayPal than a delivery confirmation. I have started shipping everything with a signature conf, whether in the US or abroad. It contributes to my comfort level as a seller. I have noticed when I receive packages requiring sig conf lately, my mail carrier now has me sign it, print my name, and print my address. I'm glad they are doing that. So many whacko buyers, you are just going to come across one sooner or later!

Thats really a really good tip!

My question is, can you get SIG CONF on 1st class items? I didn't know they had that option.

aww, that sucks. I've had so many terrible international eBay selling experiences that I will no longer ship internationally, not even to Canada.
