I bought a bag on ebay and I got a email from the seller stating she want to cancel the transaction because she realizes she can get more for the bag. I want this bag.
What should I do? |

Tell the seller, she has to honor the sale. That is the purpose of ebay, and besides if she thought she could get more, she should have put in a higher insertion price, and paid a dollar or two or three more for it, so her cheapness, and selfishness, got her what she deserves. Tell her if she doesn't sell it to you, that you'll report it to ebay, so she'll have to honor it, and you should definitely leave her very negative feedback, so no one buys from her, or are apprehensive, so she'll get less bidders (and thus lower prices) for her stuff. Good luck.

If you won, you are under no obligation to cancel the transaction just because she wants more money. Decline the mutual transaction cancellation and report her if she doesn't send it to you. You can also leave negative feedback if you wish.

I agree with what's been stated above. I would let her know that she has to honor the contract and send you your bag. Otherwise, you will have to report her as a non-performing seller and leave her a negative.
It's no different than if you as a seller refused to pay. She would no doubt report you as a non-paying bidder. Good luck! |

I would remind her that she listed the item in auction format, you bid and won, and that according to eBay rules there is a contract now between the two of you to complete the transaction, that is, for you to pay and her to send you the item. And I would leave it at that. I would definitely watch my tone and not send a message like the one suggested above. No threats. Not yet, at least.

You cannot force someone to sell to you, but as a seller she is under obligation to honor the ebay transaction. Which means you can pay and if she still does not sell to you (refunds), you can leave a negative telling what happened (seller did not honor transaction or some such) AND you can report for Non responsive seller. Other than that not much you can do, that is why they have a reserve amount for auctions (so sellers don't get stuck with not getting enough for their auctions). I would be very nice and see what transpires. Please update us what happens.

Ok but if I didnt pay and she reported me for non payment, ebay would penalty me so does the same apply for the seller

You said in your first post "I want this bag," that's why I'm suggesting you send a polite note vs a threatening note in case she can be persuaded. But if you want to report the seller, you can do that any time.

Seller might change her mind if you maybe remind her gently to follow thru the ebay rules. Nobody responds too well on threats and you can report her anytime for non-performing seller and leave a negative feedback.
Long time ago I made some spelling errors (I still do LOL) on my listing and after the buyer bid and won an auction, she sent me a threatening email saying if I don't cancel the transaction she will leave me a negative rating. I did let her cancel the transaction, but I still don't understand why she couldn't ask more nicely... |

The seller actually told you that she could get more??? how?? And I absolutely agree with you that that's not right, but I was just trying to see if you can get her to sell it to you at the price you won it for.

this is the email I got
I made a mistake with my listing and I want to cancel the transaction, I can give you the money back right now. I'm really sorry but I think that the price for this bag is more. I'm going to contact ebay for this transaction so you can have your money back |

The seller messed up fer sher. Is she a newbie on eBay? Do you think she doesn't understand how auctions work, reserve prices, BINs, etc.? Not that it matters to you, the buyer. I'm just wondering why she allowed this to happen in the first place if she is so adamant about not selling the bag under a certain price in her head.
Like mmmsc said, you can't force her to sell it to you. But you can decline to "mutually withdraw" or cancel the transaction, and you can also report her as a non-performing seller. Sorry you weren't able to get the bag. It sucks. |
