Question Someone wants me to go to the store and buy her something. LOL

Why would someone email me about this?

I have listed a used article of designer clothing, from a designer boutique and I received an email from someone, not wanting to buy my item, but rather, wanting me to go to a mall store (a big Canadian chain) and purchase for her a brand new, mainstream, not designer item, that is (supposedly) unavailable in the States.

This person (I can't call her a potential bidder, since she doesn't want my item that is for sale) has perfect feedback of over 1000.

Of course, I'm not doing it, I just deleted her message. I even blocked her from bidding.

What does this sound like to you? Does this sound like a scam or do you think this person is just a bit innocent?

Hmmmm, considering she has so much feedback, I wouldn't be surprised if she genuinely wanted the item that wasn't available here in the states. For instance, I know a lot of people in the mainland US that would pay top dollar on eBay to get certain Louis Vuitton items that are only available to Hawaii/Japan/Guam.

I don't personally think it's a scam, considering you said the item wasn't "designer", so I assume it wasn't TOO expensive. HOWEVER, at the end of the day, you're not obligated to go out of your way for someone like that. Especially if it's not something you offered to sell yourself. If you have a bad feeling, follow your instincts. It's not worth losing money out on.

Strange, but it sounds more like wishful thinking rather than a scam. Did she say she was willing to pay you for your trouble? She'd be better off directly contacting stores in Canada until she finds one willing to ship to her.

I'm going to take a wild guess that this was Lululemon?
Anyhoo - I don't think it's that crazy - I've had freinds in the States buy me stuff from US only stores - maybe she just doesn't know anyone in Canada and figures you shop there so...

I've actually seen people offering their shopping services on eBay - like I saw someone say they were doing to the Murakami Moca thing and would buy bags for a fee.

No... she didn't offer to pay me for my significant trouble... finding the item and boxing it up and shipping it to her.

This particular Canadian chain does not ship outside Canada, apparently.

No, just something from an American company, something I could have sworn was available in the States. Maybe they made something specific for Canadians. She did sound nice but I don't know her... why would I take the risk?

I'm confused?
"This particular Canadian chain does not ship outside Canada, apparently"
then
"something from an American company, something I could have sworn was available in the States."

doesn't really matter but I don't like my brain hurting - ya know

^^ Sorry, I'll be more specific... she wants a pair of Marc Jacobs shoes (American) from Browns (Canadian shoe chain/store.)

ETA - This is what eBay has done to me... made me suspicious of everyone!

Interesting. She probably just thought she'd go out on a limb and ask. Ya know? I doubt she was trying to scam you. I wouldn't do it either though...unless she offered to also pay me for my time. I'd also require a payment upfront.

I would charge her for my trouble plus the shoes and shipping. What the hell if you are going to be there anyway might as well make some money.
