Default Sold a used bag...described areas of wear...and got this response:

Here is her response:

I just picked up the bag. At first glance, the general condition of the bag appears to be as described. Unfortunately, upon closer examination, I noticed several scratches on the front, back, and sides of the bag with one that is deep enough to have the white shown through and would fray with not much additional wear. I realized that the auction listing did state "on the back of the bag there is a tiny tiny LITTLE blip in the leather." However, a 1/4" long scratch deep enough to show the white layer of the leather is not a "tiny tiny LITTLE blip." Futhermore, the listing stated "the exterior front is in better than excellent condition," but the leather should not any scratches if it is in "better than excellent condition," even if the handbag is pre-owned. By describing the scratch as a "blip," there was a conscious decision to downplay the scratch, afterall scratch is a more descriptive word than "blip." I would be glad to email photos if you provide an email address

--When I sent the bag the blip was a blip and very small. The buyer is claiming that there is white showing which wasn't the case when I sent it out. I even took a picture of it. I showed all the areas of wear in the auction in photos and described it well. Now I must deal with this. I'm afraid if I tell her to send pictures she's going to ruin the bag to prove her point.

I never had an unhappy buyer before. This lady sounds like a lunatic and has left massive amounts of negative feedback for others (as a buyer). Argh!

I would contact eBay if you can get anyone to answer. This is a tough call since you did say it was used and condition is perceived differently by each of us. I don't know if you'd win if she files SNAD but it's up to you if you're willing to take a chance and risk a negative.

Good luck!

I think describing faults and wear is very difficult and only clear pics can do this. If your pics showed all the points you should be Ok. I would ask the buyer to send pics of the parts she is unhappy with before responding further.

Thanks eBay.... you are to blame for this. There is probably nothing wrong with the bag I bet the buyer either just wants money off or her money back.

Sorry you are dealing with this! If the buyer has left lots of negative feedback for others (and generally seems like a pain), I guess you have to decide if you want to fight with her or just give in. The hard part is that even if you politely take the bag back, she may still neg you. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

At this point I would be more worried about her making it worse than I would about anything else. I hate to give in to these people because it just emboldens them but if you think there's a chance she would totally destroy the bag to win her case I'd just take it back.

the exact same thing happened to me...i took many pics of the bag-front, back, inside, outside, sides, bottom, etc., and explained it to the best of my ability...i (almost verbatim) got the same email back...my feedback is 100% positive and i didn't want to have it become a major issue, so i sent her the money back and she sent the bag...sometimes, IMHO, people get buyer's remorse and see something that they want more...i mean, we do state that these are "PRE-OWNED" and "GENTLY WORN"...
i'm so done with eBay.

even though you are right to hold your ground, fighting this out could make things worse. since people have become so crazy lately, i would opt to get the bag back and try selling to someone who isn't insane.

btw, please put this buyer on the list so we can block her.

I agree with you Kicks - pm us to let us know this particular buyer's eBay ID name.

I want to understand though, so she actually made the bag worse than it was when you sent it out to you just so she could make her point? That's horrible, if I'm understanding it correctly.
That certainly also puts you in an unfair advantage that you certainly can't even resell it for the same price next time around.
Darn. I'd say take the bag back and be done with her. You don't want her ruining your bag!!!!

Wow, there are some crazy people out there....seems like buyers on eBay have a presumption of innocence, and get away with anything these days...if I didn't need the market, I certainly wouldn't still be selling on ebay.

Yeah...I've sold used bags before that were very well described and my buyers were always happy.

This seller wants to show me the areas of wear.

I'm like "hello...I sent you this bag a week ago...I did a thorough examination..I KNOW what I sent you. I don't need pics of it!"

I didn't say that..but I wanted to.

I'm just assuming she's going to gouge out my "blip" and make it a damage.

So I don't want photos.

When you love bags and want a constant rotation - eBay is not the answer anymore it seems. Where it use to be a place to sell your unwanted bags it is now a EVIL evil place!

I hope a competitior makes an eBay equivalent and protects the seller!

Have a lot of us sent letters to them?

Also, where is this list where I can add this buyers name? I'll add it immediately...she IS insane

Do what you can but don't put too much time into it. There is a point where you it's best to just cut your losses and move on.

Oh dear - that is such a shame. The problem here is that eBay/PP will say that the description is "subjective" and everybody has a different opinion of what is "used" and what one would consider as a scratch. Its a pain in the a$$ but i would just accept a return from this buyer.

From the other negative feedback they have left as a buyer does it appear that the sellers put up a fight. If you just give in she might not neg you, but it could go either way.
