I can wash and vacuum the dustbag, but I don't think I can fix those corners.

She has offer me to return it, but this was an international transaction and it's going to cost me a lot to send it back.
What is her return policy? I know I accidentally offered one one time that had free return shipping. Does the seller not have to pay shipping when the item is not as described? What did the photos look like in her ad? Could you see the corners and markings in them?

Can you perhaps see if the repair can be corrected by a local shoemaker??

Or call/contact the company to see who they use for repairs..

Was the shipping free sending it to you??

You can contact ebay/pp they at times do offer a shipping credit

Good luck & sorry your seller is being evasive about the condition

In the past the seller hasn't been required to pay return shipping. If you file and win original shipping will be refunded.

While I do sympathize with the OPs plight I don't feel that the high fees that sellers have to pay should go toward refunding buyers for their shipping or those 'courtesy refunds'. Online shopping is inherently buyer beware and I know I have spent a small fortune on returning underwhelming items received from various sources.

When an item is misrepresented especially in the condition this item is,

the seller should at least offer something for return shipping especially

since this was an international transaction...

Perhaps the seller thought that since this was an international transaction

and knew it would be costly to return the item that the buyer would keep it

So basically it should be BUYER BEWARE when making purchases... that

just seems awful to me...

Of course the seller should pay to have it returned......................I just don't happen to think I (and other sellers) should have to foot the bill via fees.

Well that's kind of a silly way of looking at it. Are you suggesting the buyer should foot the bill for sending the diary back just so money isn't taken out of the fee pot? "Well, I wouldn't want to use money that sellers pay in fees, so I'll just pay the bill myself" Isn't that where the money should come from? I mean, after all, the seller is the one who screwed up. Seller pays high fees. Seller screws up. Therefore, seller pays for mistake by money taken out of the seller fees.

The description said no returns, but she has offered me to return it. The buyer can force the seller to refund the return postage cost, but one can always ask. IMO sellers should pay return postage when they misrepresent there item.
The listing just had 1 photo taken straight from the front, so I couldn't see that the corners were bent or that the inking around the edge was scratched.
It looks okey when you lokk at it from the front.

Sadly there are no local shoemakers around here, I think the closest is about an 2 hour drive from here. But contacting Mulberry CS could be an ide :-)

I agree and conscientious sellers often offer to do this. However, unless it is an honest mistake, most of the sellers who misrepresent items are not conscientious. They gamble that the buyer doesn't know her rights or couldn't be bothered returning. When pushed, Paypal requires them to pay the original shipping and not the return shipping.

As a buyer, I accept this as a risk of purchasing online and include it in the cost of doing business on ebay.

Do leave appropriate feedback for your seller once this is all settled and you have your refund to warn others about what this seller considers to be "new".

There was only one picture?? There is no way I would purchase anything off ebay with only one picture in the ad. Let alone something designer.

I have also paid a fortune sending back things that arrived broken, ripped, and otherwise not as described. Occasionally I will have a seller offer to pay towards the return postage, but only very very rarely. I end up losing quite a bit of $ with returns, for what isn't remorse but sending faulty merchandise. It would be nice to have some sort of recourse that ebay would assist with these.
