I've shipped to Russia once--it was a $300 pair of Dries van Noten shorts. I sent it via EMS so that there was actual tracking and I filled out the customs paperwork both in English and Russian and put their phone number on the package. It was a super smooth transaction.

As far as yours goes with the delivery confirmation saying it was delivered and they bidder saying it wasn't--I hope you insured the package! Probably give it a few more days and have the bidder go down to the proper postal office with the customs and tracking numbers and tell them to cough up the package. Otherwise, you'll have to file for insurance if you've got it. The Russian postal workers aren't exactly paid very often, so on occasion they do walk off with packages, but I hope that yours is just forgotten on a shelf. Good luck!

USPS should have a copy of maybe a signature? Or time delivered? You could say to the buyer "I have proof" just in case you think he's throwing you a curve?
Ugh. I shipped there once, not a good experience. Shipped there again recently (not a bag) and hopefully all will go well - it's going to Kiev....so I'm holding my breath.......

It probably made it to the post office on the 5th, now it has to make it through customs. Depending on the post office, it could take 5 minutes or 5 weeks, it really depends on their mood. At least they told him where his package was!

I had a nightmare of an experience shipping to Russia, never doing that again. and lost over $500.00 plus shipping. They do not have a tracking system like here and in other countries.

I lived there and my company used EMS for all mail. I don't trust Russian postal service.

I shipped a fur coat to Russia last winter. I shipped via Priority Mail (I have since switched to EMI for all international deliveries). The coat was delivered within 10 days of shipment, including time spent in customs. I may have just been extremely lucky, but I had no problem. I shipped a handbag to Russia this spring via EMI, and it arrived within the week. Again, no problem whatsoever.

I would only use something with a signature - would not use regular postal service FOR SURE!! EMS should be good, DHL or UPS
