Just wondering if anyone has noticed this before. I was looking at an auction for some cosmetic samples, and the shipping was $15. Item was 9.99 and actual shipping cost should be $2-$4.
I wrote to the seller and asked if this was correct. She replied it was and..

That is actually against eBay's policy. A seller CANNOT pass on the fees to the buyer.
I would report this seller, along with the text from their e-mail to you. |

Yes that is right. They are not allowed to charge for ebay fees. S&H is a different story, but they can't charge for ebay ees. If they were smart they would just say S&H. On the side of the seller, it is damn near impossible to send $1k bag priority insured with signature conf. for less than $30. But cosmetic samples? I seriously doubt it would cost $15.00.

ITA with the above posters, I reported a seller I was in a transaction w/ for telling me that's what she was using it to cover. Not sure that ebay did anything tho... but I did forward them my correspondence over My Messages.

You can actually cover the fees with the handling, you cannot make them separate or optional. They have to be in the fees already, so what the seller is telling you is that she is trying to get around eBay rules.

I'd report them too, they should consider the fees when entering their start bid/BIN. Who'd pay $15 to send something like that anyway, people aren't stoopid !

just because you put it in the handling doesn't mean you can still do it. a seller can't add any fees they must pay to the buy in shipping or handling |

eBay is pretty lax about what you can include in the "handling" part of S&H, but if you read the link that I posted earlier, you can see they are also very strict about what you CANNOT include.
Your seller already copped to doing something naughty, and should be reported. |
