Default Selling To Canadian Buyer From Us

My listing says US only and must pay with PayPal to verified/confirmed address.

I was emailed by 2 potential buyers in Canada if I will sell to them.

I really don't mind as long as:

1-I can still be paid via PayPal and same rules regarding being verified/confirmed applied to those registered who live in Canada

2-They send me their info so I can get shipping info & they agree to the amount

3-They agree that I am shipping insured for value of item not some lowered amount

Is there anything else I should be looking or asking for?

Thanks.

Honestly- shipping to Canada is no more difficult than shipping within the US, you really won't have any trouble! Yes, Canadian buyers can be confirmed and verified just like in the US. Shipping costs should only be a few dollars more than shipping within the US- sometimes it costs the same although for higher-value items the price goes up to about $16 on average.
You don't need all of their info, just the postal code to calculate USPS shipping. It's super easy and you might get more for your item by agreeing to ship outside the US!
I'm surprised honestly with the current US economy that some sellers still won't ship outside the US- it's a huge world market right now wanting to buy stuff!

ITA! I sell much more internationally than I do domestically. It sounds like you have all bases covered, including my pet peeve - buyers who ask you to devalue the item to avoid customs charges.

I see no problem with doing this.

I know a lot of sellers that won't ship to Canada because they say it's a huge headache. A lot of it depends on what you are selling. If the item is high priced it could be a concern. If the buyer decides that they don't want to pay the duty, they can always turn around and decline the package. This does happen even once terms have been established, hence why sellers keep their auction to the US. I would be careful.

Just add that the buyer is responsible for all duties and taxes.

Also, USPS works best for the buyer (as far as duties etc.), UPS/Fedex add huge charges.

When using USPS, ground (if they still offer that) does not have tracking/gig. conf. and can take 4 weeks for delivery. The US girls can tell you which is best for less expensive items. EMI is what I have used for high value items insured and tracked with sig. conf. arrives in about 1 week and no problems. Just make sure to fill out your forms correctly- the PO should be able to help.

Also, insure for what the auction sold for, not retail pricing. That could cost your buyer as taxes and duties are assessed on that value.

USPS Express Mail International fully insured at auction price is the only way to go for high dollar bags. Love it and never have a problem!
