Hello, I was hoping to get some help here...I just sold a gucci bag to a buyer in singapore. She seems to have really good feedback. However, she is requesting to ship the package via USPS 1st Class Int'l. She says that no insurance is requried. She is also stating to also ship in a normal envelope after a plastic bubble-wrap. In this way, the package will be airmailed /transported faster (than a box) and it clears customs much faster in Singapore. SHe is saying that she will hold me responsible for any damage, loss or delay of item for shipping via USPS First Class Intl Mail.
When I first sent her the invoice, I intended to send it via Express Mail Intl and charged her $33 for shipping. So now she is requesting a cheaper form of shipment andpaid only $20 for shipping. What do you recommend is the best form of shipment to Singapore for a bag that she bought for $250? At this point I don't mind paying the difference I just want to be safe. Thank you. |

My method is express. It will arrive usually with in 5-8 days and you have tracking plus it is insured for $100 and you can buy more to fully cover yourself plus you can add in signature confirmation which I would HIGHLY recommend. You should not pay out of pocket yourself as this buyer should know it is not going to be cheap to get the itee to her. I am POSITIVE if it does not arrive safely you will be the one out money..not her.Do not let them bully you,or tell you how to ship to save fees.

she said she WILL hold you responsible? after asking you to ship it in an envelope so she'll get it quicker? no thanks.
I just sent a bag over $1000 using USPS Express and it was pricey! The bag was also very big though, so it required a nice size box. I told the buyer I would only send it insured and would not claim it as a gift or lower value. Buyer had awesome feedback and I don't regret it. I also insured it for full value. If you don't mind spending the extra money, it would sure be worth your peace of mind to send it Express. It got there quickly but was stuck in customs although my experienced buyer realized this would happen. I sold it on Bonanzle and not Ebay so I didn't have the worry you do about a buyer who is not flexible. I told my buyer that was the ONLY way I would ship and the buyer was agreeable. I offered to pay part of the shipping, but was reimbursed the full amount. I was very lucky! |

^^^What did they charge you for that? I have to send one and insure it for 1450... I only charged 55 for shipping, I hope thats enough!! I hate paying for shipping lol - ebay and paypal already take enough.

I also only ship via Express to other countries, no matter what the buyer requests. It's not worth the risk otherwise.
Also, I would never ship a bag in an envelope. It might get damaged. |

don't let her tell you how to pack it. you are the seller, you pack and ship how you feel is the best method to get it to her.
and don't leave off insurance, and skip the box. you are asking for trouble. she will hold you responsible if it's lost or never arrived. why wouldn't she want it insured? just do what you need to to protect yourself. |

Bwuh? That's a very strange list of requirements. Definitely ship it USPS Express, as I prefer having packages shipped to me from the US via Express International too. The tracking is much better and more detailed, and the packages usually don't take more than a week and a half in total to get here either. Insure it to protect yourself too, particularly since she's already stated that she'll hold you responsible. (Why make that statement yet tell the seller not to insure??
)What's the size of the Gucci bag you're sending? I'm really puzzled why she'd want you to send it in an envelope, as a box would obviously be better to protect the bag, for both your sake and hers. I'd definitely send it in a box if possible. As for the choice of a cheaper shipping method, I have a feeling that your buyer may be concerned about being hit with import taxes. Import taxes are charged on packages above S$400 in value (including shipping), and the price of the bag is close enough to the threshold that she may want a cheaper shipping method to ensure the total stays below S$400. (XE.com currently puts S$400 at about US$280.) I've found from experience that packages just above the S$400 threshold can still pass through customs without taxes, though, particularly if they're shipped by USPS. The extra US$13 for a proper shipping method really shouldn't make much of a difference, if this really is her concern. |

http://appm4.internet.gov.sg/scripts...exc/exrate.asp To determine if the item is taxable at the time of importation, the exchange rate here is used if the invoice comes in foreign currency. Ok end of side track. :) |

At any rate, I always use EMS because it's much faster and buyers don't get antsy. I shipped a Blythe doll to Singapore a few weeks ago and it arrived in 3 days. No joke. |

I would only ship UPS insured , with delivery signature required. I would also call ebay or paypal to see if you would be covered by the sellers protection plan for this country , as not all are.
