Default Sellers with Mult IDs - Should I run?

Thanks everyone for all the great advice.

I have another question as a buyer. I'm interested in a used handbag listed by someone with 100% feedback from 113 responses. I asked her a questions because it said shipping was one things and then something else and I wanted clarification. She wrote me back from another account with 100% and 7 responses.

How can this happen? Is this a sign she may be hiding something?

Hi! It may be that she is hiding something, but I do know lots of people that have 2 ids - one for selling and one for buying. I guess they do this because if they buy something they don't like & want to give a negative, the retaliatory negative won't affect their selling feedback. It's fairly easy to see if this is the case - just go to Goofbay and search both ids for items sold in the past 30 days.

I also know that some people at eBay have a 'board id' just for posting on the discussion boards.

Of course, it doesn't mean that it isn't a scam, but only you know what you are comfortable bidding on. If it was me, I'd probably just ask her directly - sellers know that people are worried about buying on eBay, and most of us will do everything we can to allay fears!

I'd agree with dcgal and ask her - you are entitled to enquire as a buyer about anything that makes you uncomfortable or simply curious. No big deal, just a polite but straight question is what I'd do. Let us know how it goes.

Having more than one ID on eBay is pretty common. Many people have one ID for selling, and one ID for buying. This is especially true if their selling ID is attached to a business and they want to keep it separate from their personal buying.

I have 2 buyer ids and 2 seller ids. The errors happen when answering a question from the eBay message sent to an e-mail account. The person may have inadvertantly logged into one of their other accounts. I have done that.

Thanks for the feedback. I sent her an e-mail asking her why and she said she lists bags under one and shoes under the other. Seems to check out and feed back has been good (but not a lot). I feel better now.
