Default Seller with only 1 feedback??
I am interested in a bag that is reasonably priced...it was originally $1695 and now is $500 but it is pre-owned. From the pics (and I will ask for more) it looks like it is in really good shape. However, this seller only has 1 feedback and it looks like it was a long time ago since this person used ebay, since the feedback doesn't show. Even though I contact this person and ask for info etc, ect, should I even waste my time? I know that people have bid on items from sellers with like 1 or a couple of feedbacks and got scammed. Any advice would be helpful! Thanks!

It is certainly riskier to buy from a seller who does not have a FB history. I do believe that Paypal has extended buyer protection even to low FB sellers (sellers used to require 50 or more FBs for buyer protection to apply). If you post the photos in the appropriate "authenticate this" forum and if the item is eligible for buyer protection and if there is nothing in your communication with the seller that doesn't sound right, you will probably be o.k. Make sure you pay with Paypal and a credit card.

Call PP and see how and if you will be covered? Sounds a bit risky, but I would ask the seller. If you provide the link (or post pictures), maybe we could check it out further?

Thanks for your input! I have sent the seller an email asking for more information. I will post it up here as soon as I get it. I have a feeling this seller is a novice and might not know about buyer protection and all that. Should I remind this seller or just not say anything about it? Well, it's not risking it to ask questions but it is if you jump blindly into an empty swimming pool!

No harm in steering a novice ebayer in the right direction but you don't want the burden of having to hold her hand every step of the way. It is tough enough dealing with a clueless buyer but a clueless seller is even worse. One good sign though is that most scammers are not novices.

So the seller got back to me and it appears that she cannot take really good pics...according to her. She said the pics came out really blurry. She did show a receipt but I cannot zoom in and look at it to see what it really says. There is really no point in going to the "Authenticate this" forum since she cannot take good clear pics of the info that I need. I have no clue at this point. She seemed really nice but that usually means nothing in the ebay world. Here is the auction:

Any time I ask a seller for more pics and they give me the "I can't because of blah blah blah" excuse.....I RUN for the hills!

Her photos are not even remotely decent enough to verify it's authenticity.

I would pass for sure on this one.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking! Once I got her emails about info for the bag and when she didn't even answer my first questions until I reminded her, I got suspicious. She also gave me two different prices. She claims that $1149 was the original starting price (which I know is not true since legit sites put it at $1695) and then she got it at a sale price at $849, which may or may not be true. I would reconsider if the price was MUCH, MUCH lower .

Alternatively, this is a 2nd or 3rd ID the seller set up, and is now using it because their primary ID has been suspended. That IS against ebay's rules, but it doesn't stop people from doing this.
