Default Seller will not ship bag until funds are deposited into her acct.

This is a weird situation. I purchased a bag last week, and payed immediately with paypal from my paypal balance. The seller is making me wait until the funds are out of her paypal account and into her bank account before shipping the bag. It has been almost a week now (she expects the funds to be in her account today). It kind of upsets me (I am terribly impatient). Has anyone else had to deal with this? By the time it gets to me, it will probably be close to 2 weeks after the auction ends. This just seems unacceptable. When I sell things I always make sure that I ship within 2 days of payment.

It usually only takes 3-4 business days for funds to transfer. Might have been a delay because of the holiday last week. As far as waiting....I honestly can't say as I blame her only because of ALL the scamming going around with eBay and paypal these days.

My husband just did the same thing. Sold and item, the guy paid immediately but my husband thought that the pp receipt looked "weird" like it had been spoofed. So he put in for a transfer to his bank account right away and told the buyer he would ship when it transfered. I guess you can't be too careful these days, especially with all the scamming/spoofing going around. Could have something to do with the number of feedbacks too. My husbands buyer only had 4 fb's so that made him suspicious as well. Maybe your seller is a newish ebayer and is nervous because of all the horror stories out there.

While I can understand why your seller did this to a certain degree, I believe that she should have posted it in her auction so the you could account for the delayed ship time.

I didn't know it would take that long to transfer your funds from PP to your bank account. I was thinking about doing this too for my purse on eBay because this way even if the buyer receives the purse and claim that its fake PP doesn't have a hold on my money. I've heard some people do this who sell once in awhile because once theres a claim a hold will be on your account and you can't really do anything on PP for 30-60 days? I'm not sure but its annoying plus you never know if you're going to win the claim.

Has the seller been in contact with you regularly?

I won the auction last Tuesday. She emailed me Friday and told me that the funds havent cleared yet, and she is hoping they will clear Monday (today) before she ships. I havent heard anything yet today. I guess I can understand the reasoning behind waiting. It just seems like it should be posted in the auction so that the buyer knows in advance. So if the seller withdraws the funds from his/her acct, can you not charge back if the item isnt received or is not as described?

^^ you can still do a chargeback if anything goes wrong. Maybe you can let her know your annoyed because it's taking so long and if she was going to wait till funds were in her account she should have mentioned that in the auction

What a great idea -- just in case a buyer plans on doing chargeback
on paypal or something fishy (not that YOU would of course, but there are SO MANY scammers out there...). I think it takes 3-5 days at the most to transfer funds from PP to bank acct.. She probably could have just waited and not even said anything. I don't know why sellers are expected to ship instantly anyway. My buyers, and as a buyer myself, don't think anyone expects to receive item before a week, no?????
PS I just had a seller not send me my $600 earrings for 6 weeks (!!) After every excuse in the book from seller (she was sick, her signifigant other was in a car accident, the earrings were at her home and she was at her office, etc, etc, ad nauseum), I finally filed with Paypal. Got my money back within a week. They froze her PP acct., so she had to refund me. Didn't want it to come down to that, as I really wanted those earrings, but really -- 6 WEEKS, that is just too long not to get uncomfortable and think you are being cheated! One week, not a problem.

She is wasting her time really because if there was a problem paypal could still draw from her bank account...

What a waste. Once she initiates the transfer it CANNOT be reversed, and you can still do a chargeback anyways. I'd probably neg her (or at least neutral) for slow shipping and not disclosing this in her auction. She can't neg you back and I'd want to know to avoid her!

Agreed...all she had to do was start the transfer.

Another poster had this same issue recently. I think that unless it is disclosed in her auction that she won't ship for 5 days, then it is not right for her to wait.

I guess I wouldnt be bothered if it was an inexpensive item. The problem is that there is always a certain level of anxiety when purchasing expensive designer goods on eBay. Even if the seller appears legit, has good feedback, and the bag looks perfect, you always have an inkling of doubt and want to see the item in person as soon as possible. She is also charging $25 shipping for an item which will take 2 weeks or so to get to me (it apparently still has not cleared into her account). I hate to leave negative feedback if the bag is nice, because in the big picture it isnt a huge deal, just annoying and anxiety producing.

I dont think its that big of a deal given all the buyer scams that are cropping up. Its kind of stupid of her, but atleast she's being honest with you. If I were you, I'd give her a low star rating but still leave a positive if everything checks out fine.

If this is the case, then I'd say just roll with it. Enjoy the bag when it comes and chalk it up to seller anxiety under the new rules causing her to do this. BUT don't wait too long...watch out for yourself too. Sellers can start the "excuse" phase to keep you waiting until it is too late to do anything...I'm sure you are already aware of that, which is why YOU are a little anxious!

Try not to worry until there is something to worry about and enjoy the bag when it comes...I swear eBay has taken ALL the fun out of this for everyone!

This happened to Lawgal last week. As seller I always initiate the transfer before shipping but I don't wait to see the money in my account!!!

yeah, I though PP wasn't allowed to take money out of your bank account w/o your permission? Maybe they just make it a negative balance? I'm confused
