Default Seller protection for shipping overseas?

I figured someone on here would know this; I tried to find it on PayPal and they are worthless!

If I ship to someone in Australia, does any of PayPal's seller protection work? Or am I risking getting screwed if they claim it never arrived?

It seems like PayPal before was very dangerous and offered little to no protection for international transactions. All I saw now was something that indicated that AFTER the person has paid you can find out if their address is eligible for seller protection, which is the stupidest thing EVER when deciding if you'll sell to them in another country.

Someone from Australia is inquiring about my auction and I'm trying to determine if I should sell and ship there.

And, anyone have other reasons Australia would be a bad place to ship?

I think Australia is an ok place to ship. I think if you send with insurance and delivery confirmation it should be ok.

Awesome! Thanks!

I also just noticed the person asking has 0 feedback but has been registered since 2006. . . so I have a slight alarm there but am thinking, "confirmed address will mean I'm ok."

Still smarting from my last bad run in with taking a PayPal payment for eBay.

That might be ok, but it depends, if it were me, I would have a lot of worry, your item is going a long way, are you selling something very pricey?

I won't sell to them unless they use another form of payment like money transfer. Too risky IMO to use PayPal if he have no feedback.

Before they offered the seller protection to PS'rs I shipped a lot of items to Australia without problems. If it is more money than you are willing to lose, ask for another method of payment.

I ship alot to Australia. I have never had a problem and they allow full insurance coverage for my items as well. European countries only allow you to insure for up to $650. Australia has $5000 cap. However, if you are not a PowerSeller, with the perk covering unconfirmed addresses, I think it is far too risky to ship anywhere internationally without a confirmed address. Your bidder's 0 feedback, member since 2006 is alarming. I would most definitely not let her bid.
