Default seller covering serial # on watch-Is this legit?

I recently asked a seller for extra pictures of the back of a watch. They sent them but covered the serial number claiming they have heard that people will steal pics (true) "and other horror stories"-whatever that means. Without seeing a good pic of the back it is hard to judge authenticity. Has anyone heard of this before? Does it seem odd?

Why can't they send photos directly to you via email if they're so concerned? I've had sellers not share Chanel serial numbers because of this. I usually don't bid.

good luck!
