Default Seller changed the ID after the payment
HI,I purchased a purse on ebay last night and paid by PP as soon as I received the invoice. then I checked on the page on ebay today, the seller has changed the ID name. Does it often happen? Is this a safe transaction?

The timing could be just a coincidence. Is the seller relatively new to ebay with not much feedback?

I think most of the "big" sellers tend to keep the same user ID so buyers can find them easily. Then there are some ebay users who change their user ID's often.

You can check to see if your seller changes her ID often by going to their feedback page and clicking on "View more options". That way you can view their "ID history". Under that history you will see every ID they have ever used.

i don't think it'll affect your transaction, if they'd closed down the account i'd be worried !

Yup, she's right - it's just a name change They probably just didn't like the id they had.

I would call PP and ask them to check into this. Could be fishy that they just changed their name after your transaction? Because if you sent payment to one name and they are now another, PP may have a problem if a refund or something is necessary. I would just double check this with PP/ebay to be sure.

but you pay an email address when you use paypal don't you? not an ebay member name. they would still have the same personal details on file.

Hi, Thank you everyone!
I didnt know that you can change your ID name. I only use ebay as a buyer and the mostly buy items from power sellers or Stores who have more than 500 feedbacks. The seller I am dealing with now has less than 50 feedbacks and not a store.
I would not mind if the ID name changes does not affect my payment But,like mmmsc said, I can see the poin too. I will ask paypal about this case.

well i had my account hacked and changed the user and the password so i was no longer at risk. I explained this to my buyers that had bought from me recently and they were fine with it (some were also pending delivery).

It doesn't matter. If you still are in the transaction with the person, it will be all in yours and their transaction history.

Thank you everyone!
I just had a reply from paypal about this as below.

”Actually,seller can change eBay ID by theirself anytime, and it is necessary to update information on PayPal side as well.If your transaction was completed on PayPal side ,there will be record even theychanged information.Please don't worry about it .”

 I also asked pp one more question, because the seller said they would ship out the item after the payment is cleared. But recently the most of sellers ship the items withn 2days after my payment. once I had a problem with sellers, did not ship the item for a long time then I got worried so, mailed the sellers few times but in the end I was told that I am not reasnable buyer. (I always pay for item withn 24 hous though)
so, I do not want to push the seller but this time, the seller would not contact me after the payment so.just in case,I asked PP that how long does it take to clear the payment.And PP answered as below.

PayPal and eBay are working together to make the marketplace safer for buyers and sellers by helping to ensure successful transactions.Therefore, for a small percentage of transactions where it is determined the risk of buyer dissatisfaction is higher, funds may be held. However, once a buyer has paid for an item, the seller should ship it immediately. Sellers should not use held funds as an excuse to delay shipping.
PayPal may release the funds earlier when one of the following occurs:
1.Three calendar days after PayPal confirms item delivery;
2,The buyer leaves the positive feedback after receiving the item;
3,21days unless they receive a dispute, claim, chargeback,or reversal on the transaction subject to the hold.
Please contact to your seller again and request him to ship the item as soon as possible.

I dont sell on ebay, so, I do not know as a seller side. I would like to know that does everyone here sellers ship the item after the payment is cleared?

Thanks for reading a long post and I will appreciate any answer!

Yeah, I wouldnt worry about it.

I ship when I have the money in my paypal account, normally after I have it in progress of transfering to my bank account.
