Default Scary inconsistency

I was checking this Beverly on eBay a while ago. I asked the seller when she bought it. She replied and told me she bought it on ebay but the seller whom she bought it from said it was bought on Jan 2007. The seller was reluctant to send her the receipt as it has her personal detail.

I looked at her feedback and sure enough the beverly she claimed was bought from another eBay seller claimed it was purchased by her on jan 2007. Previous seller claimed to have the receipt but does not what to post pic etc. Anyway when she got her bag authenticated by LV sa and they said it was authentic.

The scary thing was from the date code it claimed that the bag was made was july 2007. The bag looked authentic and somehow fooled the SA.

Bummer.. I think this is an eBay topic best, since it just shows that there are some situations on eBay that are just awkward.

Perhaps I'm lost here.

So pretty much the date stamp code was off about 6 months and you find this odd??? Maybe the LV SA was new and didn't really know how to read them yet?

I mean, if it was actually made in July 2007, instead of January 2007, what is the problem? Does 6 months really make a difference? Now if it was 6 years, yes, I'd be PO'd.

Am I missing something here?

I think the OP is confused because the previous buyers said they bought it in Jan 07 but the bag's datecode says it wasn't made until July 07. Basically, you can't buy a bag that was not made yet, is that clearer?

No, I got that from the original post. However, I don't see how it's really a big deal as the bag seems authentic, no? Perhaps they just screwed up and said it was purchased in January but meant to say it was purchased in July. Both months begin with a "J," so maybe it was just human error???

OK, I guess it's just me. Sorry!

I'd send pictures to one of the authentication sites and see what they say. I don't trust the opinions of SAs. Sure, they can find a great pair of shoes, but they aren't authenticators. I'm sure that if you had one of the authentication services look at it, you would feel tons better.

Sellers lie all the time. I don't know why. It is from an estate sale, wealthy aunt, private collector, the whatever mall, a movie wardrobe, etc... Why they don't say "nice bag, is real" I don't know.

Maybe they bought it in July.. since we don't have a reciept. Maybe they made an error in the date...?

My point was, there are fake bags made so like the real ones that even an SA got confuse. There is a good point that people made by one of the response that SA could be new. The experts online seems to know better than a few SA.

I have been doing my research with regards to date code with some help from a few experts in purse blog authenticators. No one has argued if the information listed in here is incorrect. At least not yet.

I wouldn't be happy with an item that looks authentic but it isn't. No matter how little the difference are in the date or whether SA is fooled by it. There are children who are made to make fake bags for people to sell on. There are serious reason why buying fakes that looks similar to real ones are morally wrong. Fake trade go out of their way to sell their goods and they are getting better and better. So even a little reason that you may doubt the items are fake; would you risk that your bag could have been made by a child chained in their work bence or people have died trying to export or make these fake bags?

Another incident reflect the reason to be wary. One eBay seller told me he source his bags from a broker of some kind. The bags looks authentic but came with a blank receipt. Any purse blog will tell you that this don't happen. You shouldn't get a blank receipt.

You all can decide for yourself if you think the bag details are real and mistake are made by me. Its your call.

I can't see someone buying a bag and reselling it on eBay all during the very month it was made.
Did the seller show you a copy of the LV SA's authentification or did she just tell you that she had gotten it done?

Well done. I never thought about that. Thats a really good point. She didn't show me anything. I just assume she was the victim and telling me the truth.
