Default Safe transactions off ebay?

I'm sorry,
this question is not about eBay but it's about buying and selling!

If I want to buy a handbag off eBay, directly from a person, how is the safest way to deal? Can we use paypal or get some sort of "contract" so that be are both proteced?

please help!

generally not a good idea, but if you do go for it, make sure you pay by paypal with a CC

I would say only if you know and trust the seller. If you insist, use PP with your credit card. But I am so sure Paypal even covers these things if they find out it was off eBay. Anyone know more??

Don't do it unless you know and trust the seller. Use paypal and have the seller send you an invoice with complete details about what you are getting and when. This way, you have an official record of what the transaction is for incase there is a paypal dispute. Get as much stuff in writing as possible. If you do it this way and have some idea of who you are dealing with and pay with a credit card, it should be rather safe. It could turn out badly if you don't know the seller though and trust them to actually send you what you ordered.

I would personally not do it unless I was absolutely sure of the seller.........how is their feedback? Can't they just list it as a BIN on eBay and you purchase it that way?

Wink

I think the decision would depend on the relationship you have with the seller. How did you meet her? How did you arrive at an agreement to do this transaction? Where are you/her located? Scammers galore, but honest, decent people still exist. I know this probably won't help much, but I would follow my intuition. I rely on it a lot when making deals and it never fails me. I would also take the precautions some of the ladies here have pointed out. HTH.

PayPal will NOT cover a SNAD if the transaction was not on eBay.

Use your credit card though and they should, depending on the Ts&Cs (which would like restrict State coverage and impose dollar limits).
