Is it safe to include original receipts with your bag as a proof of the authenticity, when you sell it on Ebay?

I'm not selling stuff very often, just couple of times a year while cleaning my closet. Just sold couple of the bags, used Gucci and brand new LV. One of the buyers sent me 4-5 e-mail stressing about the receipt. I crossed my info with black marker, but by some reason it bothers me.

IMHO, I may be inclined to send a copy since it could possibly give a counterfeiter the ability to sell a fake with a real receipt.

^^ Not only that, but what if you ship bag & receipt to buyer, buyer is a nutcase, files a claim & returns bag, but does not return the receipt...??

^^ Second what SolidGold2 said.

Also, make sure to black out any account numbers that may on the receipt and I usually black out the price I paid too.

If you don't have a photocopier, you can also just use your digital camera to take a picture of the receipt too (and then black out the information digitally in a program like Photoshop).

If you mention in listings, buyer would ask for it.
For me receipts mean nothing in terms of authenticity, but many people want to have it if they are available.
Without them, you can always prove authenticity with many close up shots and encouraging prospective buyers to authenticate before bidding etc...

If you include receipt, you can send copies not originals as people have said already.

I sold items with my original receipts with my personal info blacked out and I am very lucky I did not have any buyers trying to scam me (Thank god)

I think it is a good idea to send photocopy of the receipt with your info blacked out just in case if a problem does occur. It seems to me that sellers are not well protected on ebay and some buyers will take advantage of unsuspected sellers. Good luck!

Is it safe? It depends on the type of person/buyer you're dealing with and whether or not the transaction goes south. As a precaution, I would not send the original receipt kuz you could need it to prove the bag is authentic if the buyer files a SNAD.

i don't get how receipts make something seem more authentic. someone can buy a real one and then sell a fake with the real reciept. it means nothing. but no, i wouldn't send the original. because i think with the transaction id, etc they can potentially attempt to find out your credit card that was used. longshot, but you never know

You need the receipt for an insurance claim if something happens during transit.

I agree with the others, receipts mean nothing really, but send a copy not the original.

You could send a copy, ask the buyer to confirm in writing that they are totally happy with the bag, and then send the original receipt, and then they can leave feedback.

Would not send an original receipt for many of the reasons stated above.
