Default Question about TPFer's on EBAY

OK, I have a question and I think I already posted this SOMEWHERE, but danged if I can find it now! My question is... is there a "list" anywhere of TPFer's who sell on eBay? (or anywhere else for that matter). I know that on a FEW auctions I have seen, listing says "seller is TPFer". And I would much prefer to BUY from a TPFer. But unless TPF is posted in the auction, is there any other way to know which TPFers are also sellers?? Or to VERIFY that a seller claiming TPF is indeed a TPFer?? (And yes, I am aware that one still needs to post to ATC - in agreement on that!)
I will say this, I DO wish that all TPF members who sell WOULD post TPF on their auction titles. I would rather do business w/ TPFers.

The easiest way to buy from a tpfer through eBay is to do a search for TPF or similar (on ebay) and then ask the seller what their tpf id is. I don't think that is against any rules.

I think bellacherie's advice is good - there is no list of TPFers that sell on eBay, as this would be considered endorsement/advertising, which is against tPF rules. As with anything, being a tPFer is not a guarantee of anything and there have been problems with dishonest or scammer tPFers - after all, all you need is an email address to sign up and anyone can do so! While the mods take great care in trying to prevent this sort of thing happening, it's not possible to monitor everything and this site has more than 115,000 members - we get all sorts!

As bella said, I would ask any eBay/tPF user for their tPF id, then PM that id on tPF to check if they are really selling - there have also been cases where people claim to be on tPF but are just using somebody's username (probably in the hope that you wont check). Also, it's always a good idea to check the integrity of a tPF eBayer - many just sign on so that they can say they are a member. Checking out things like post counts and the quality of their posts (advisory and contributory vs 'useless' posts like "congratulations" or "welcome"), while not a guarantee, will at least give you something to go on.

Right, and I agree. Check out the bag, check out the seller/TPFer!

Just because someone claims to be a TPF member doesn't mean they really are, or that they're a trustworthy active member. So do your homework, search their ID and ask around to ensure they are who they say they are. Regardless of this, always have the item you're interested in buying authenticated either here or by Carol at CarolDiva.
