Default PP holding funds??

Hi everyone!! I recently started selling on eBay again ( I used to sell on there but, it has been about a year ). I sold a Dooney & Bourke bag 9 days ago and paypal put a hold on the funds until she either got the bag or leaves me positive feedback. Well, I went to the USPS site and the Delivery confirmation says that the package was delivered on 9-1-08 so, it was delivered to her 4 days ago and paypal has the confirmation number so, paypal is even saying that it was delivered when I click on the link in the transaction info but, I still don't have the funds available.

So, I emailed the buyer and just basically said that I was emailing her to thank her for her purchase and that I was wondering if she was happy with the bag. Bascially just to remind her to leave feedback. This was yesterday morning when I emailed her and I still haven't heard back from her.

This is just really irritating. I started selling on eBay again because I really need to make some extra cash and so far, I have sold 2 bags, 1 Dooney and 1 Coach, they are holding the funds on both transactions and the thing that is irritating me is that the money I had to use for shipping had to come out of my own pocket because they are holding the payments and I need that shipping money back.

So, Does anyone know how long they will hold the payments?

I can't believe all the new rules, it is just rediculous. Another thing I am unhappy about is that one of the bags that I sold was a Vintage Limited Edition Coach bag well, then I tried to list a Vintage Coach belt, it wouldn't be worth too much, it's just a leather belt but, they won't let me list it for 30 days because it is a Coach belt.

I really wish there was somewhere else to go to sell but, all the other sites just don't have the traffic that eBay has. It sucks

Sorry my post is so long but, thanks for listening!! Any info on the paypal issue is greatly appriciated!!
Thank you!!

You know, it seems this is happening a lot. There have been a few threads about this subject and from what I can see, the max that they'll hold your funds is 21 days. Unless of course, your lazy-a@@ buyer actually leaves you +feedback. If not, the max is 21 days.

I sometimes it thinks to just be honest and tell the buyer the truth, but that may not work either. Ugh!

Yup actually that had happened to me. I sold a bag last Friday 8/29 on eBay, the buyer paid on 8/30 AM and immediately I shipped the package out the same day. I uploaded the package tracking # on paypal and it showed that the package had been delivered AND signed-off by the buyer on Tuesday 9/2.

On Wed 9/3 my buyer was nice enough to leave me a positive feedback on eBay and I've emailed paypal 3 times already they keep giving me the same song how they need to validate everything before they can release my hold.

THIS IS really frustrating. I understand buyer should have protection (I do both buying and selling on eBay) but when paypal implement their new policy, they NEED to make sure this process works. They need to release the payment hold IMMEDIATELY if the shipment had already been delivered, this new policy is becoming very unfair for sellers. My bag is out but I don't get paid for it because of the stupid hold.

Call them so that someone can manually confirm the delivery and release your funds

exact same thing for me, i called PP and they told me that it would be 2-3 days after delivery of the item. Buyer received 9/2 so PP told me I should be getting $ by today, but when i checked this AM, funds were still on hold .. WTF. I hate PP, I hate *Bay, and I hate the stupid Live Cashback...my cashback should have been in my PP acct this morning since today is the 75 day!!!

I've been waiting 2 days already since the buyer left FB and got the item. When I contacted paypal they said that it should be "released in 24 hours since everything looks good." BS, still hasn't happened. I already sent them another note, we'll see what happens.

On another note, it sounds like the funds are only held for eBay transactions. I don't think we would have this problem on Bonanzle.com ....hopefully.

Okay I got this response from a Paypal robot. Instead of 24 hrs it's 3 days.....

I do apologize for the release of the funds however you will need to
wait 3 days after we have confirmed the item delivery. By then, the
funds would be released.

We appreciate your patience and understanding regarding this matter, and
wish you continued success on PayPal.

So it doesn't seem to matter if you have FB and the item delivered...they are saying 3 days.

Yes, it was to a confirmed address.

Well, I called paypal and they said that it will be 3 days from the date it was delivered, which, would be today since it was delivered on the 1st but, the lady at PP said that I should have it by Saturday. That don't make any sense. If the hold is supposed to be lifted after 3 days then it needs to be lifted after 3 days, but, that isn't the way I took it.
She is saying it SHOULD be available by Saturday, that is 5 days after she recieved the package. This is rediculous.

Do they do this all the time, or just on certain items because I sold a Coach bag 2 days ago and the payment on it is being held too. So, now, I am going to have to wait for that payment too.

No wonder why a lot of people don't take paypal anymore.

Yea, they told me 3 days too but, then after she told me 3 days, she went on to say that the funds will be available by Saturday and Saturday will be the 5th day. It don't make any sense. If they say 3 days then, they need to release the payment in 3 days and no longer IMO.

I am sorry this happened to you! It happened to me too and I had a huge amount of cash in my PP account, and they froze it because I wasn´t able to provide tracking info on one of the bags because the seller changed her mind but the transaction still showed as completed since she paid immediately. Obviously I wasn´t able to give any tracking since I wasn´t shipping the bag (big mess...irritating to say the least), and they held all my money until I had faxed each and every receipt I had of the items I had sold (about 20 items) thank God I had receipts or I don´t know what they would have done. I also have 14 people who have not yet left feedback! That is really uncivil of them IMO, I always leave feedback as soon as the item arrives!!!!! I don´t know why some buyers don´t care about leaving feedback! Good luck!

ALRIGHT THIS IS HUGELY FRUSTRATING BUT I HAVE SOME GOOD NEWS, I just called PP about the bag (see my post above) I shipped and delivered on 9/2 and buyer left me positive feedback on 9/3.

Here's what I had to go through while on the phone with PP:
- Rep #1 manually validated the delivery status and checked the eBay positive feedback left for me - 10 mins
- Rep #1 then transfered me to Rep #2 (his supervisor) indicating that my payment can be released because I've satified the above criteria) - 5 mins
- Rep #2 got on the phone even though with a note from Rep #1 saying that they've already validated everything, he still decided that he has to go through another validation - another 10 mins
- Rep #2 said normally they can't "JUST" manually release the funds, it has to wait for the system's automatic generation of fund release (or some crap like that) but he was willing to make an "exception" for me like he was doing me a favor - another 5 mins

SO after 30 mins on the phone with him, I finally got the payment through reflected in my account. Now, I have another bag shipped yesterday and that payment has not been released yet, so either I have to call them in personally again or I'll just have to wait. Eitherway it's an extremely frustrating process.

After I get my last payment from PP I'm DONE with them!!! I'd never use them again.

Oh and also, Rep #2 did tell me the following:

1) If you shipped your item and status shows that it is delivered, it'll take anywhere from 24 - 72 hours for the system to generate fund release
2) If you had positive feedback left before your item has been delivered (which probably will never be the case) then PP will release the fund sooner - within 24 hours

SO, for those of us who are waiting to get our payment, I guess we'll just have to patient, unforunately. I'd give them at least 3 days after your item has been delivered to see your funds become available.

Hope this helps!

Glad you were able to get your money, but someone else said that they had waited longer than the 72 hours and still no money.

I won't believe that they release the funds within 24 hours because everyone else- myself included- has to wait 3 days. Release w/in 24hrs must just be for their VIP members!
