Question Please enlighten me - what is the purpose of this such auctions?

eBay Australia: make MONEY on ebay! *The 90 DAY POWERSELLER CHALLENGE!* (item 170073540793, end time 19-Feb-07 16:32:03 AEDST)

The seller can't possibly be making money from it. This is the fees table for eBay Australia:

eBay Fees

The seller also accepts paypal so there's fees there too.

There's so many of such listings on eBay. I don't see the point.

Is this set up just for people to trade feedback??? New eBayers buy from these auctions to essentially give themselves more feedback... How does the seller benefit, except to lose 29c??! This is a scam right? How does it work?
