Just curious, has anyone ever been asked to return a fake bag back to paypal if there was also damage to it? Like say you received a fake that had a broken zipper or something and your claim stated it was both fake and damaged. I'm just wondering if they ask those be sent to them or if they are only asking for the ones that they can easily resell.

I was wondering about that too..... the bag I bought was a vintage Chanel, in the auction it stated that some of the stitches came undone from the chain and would need to be stitched so I took it to Chanel and had it sent out, and that how it all started.....either way the bag looks good, so I think they only take bag items that show well, so that they can be resold.

Has anyone here been asked to return a damaged item to Liquidity Services...aka paypal returns?

Dragonlady,

Does anyone have hard copy / paper print outs of the postings regarding this situation that "disappeared" on that blog?

Also, the handbag that was listed on ebay, is there a link to the item no., or proof of that listing?

I'm thinking any news organization would need that info correct?

I don't know if anyone has hard copies of the ebay blogs.

I still have the link to my ebay auction, along with all my other info.

I think they will have no problem with damage items as well. Liquidation.com sells wholesale to individuals via private auctions and state the condition of the lot. A lot of them savage in wich the buyer know the items have to be repaired. If some of these items turns back at Ebay is probably because on of the buyers from this company is reselling them. PayPal is just a seller/member or Liquitity but they have many other honest there. I bought a lot of Target returned toys from liquidation a while back and a few of them were broken and open. Still was a great deal and I'm sure it was target as they still had tags. We should keep an eye to see if we get lucky and find the Seller there linked to PayPal somehow.

Well I think the issue is that fakes cannot be repaired by the manufacturer, and even if they were genuine items they need to be repaired by the maufacturer as they would have the correct parts etc and this can get pricey.
I have sent my LV's and Chanels in and they are usually 3 digit repair bills.

True, but normally the sellers there sell as is, so the buyer that buy the fakes probably have to chalk it up. Also in liquitidy they are responsible to make the lots themselves, check the items and throw away the ones considred as trash. I bought from the one in New Jersey and when I picked up my lot, I saw hundreds of employees packing things and outside they had a huge bin full of "trash items" So my thoughs are that PayPal have all their items there stock together and when liquidity start working with the PayPal lot, the employees are the one that decide what is going to resell and what goes to the trash, kwim?

Cool info. I've always wondered about that. When I placed my auction on liquidation, they required receipts from me to prove my bags were authentic.

The problem is, when buyers received their refund, the money would be withdrawn from seller's account. eBay/PayPal already made their money from listing fee and final fee, they have no rights to the goods, not to mention they are fakes. Those items don't belong to eBay/PayPal, period. If they possess the goods, this is call stealing or robbery.

^ I thought they only did it when they couldn't get the money back from the seller and had to refund the buyer through Paypal Buyer Protection? Otherwise, the buyer would generally be instructed to return the bag to the seller (or, on rare occasions, be instructed to destroy it).

In which case, I think it is more a case of recouping their losses than theft, isn't it?

So, the only crime Paypal would be committing is the selling of fakes (which I believe is illegal, whether it is classed as liquidation, or not, isn't it?), not theft.

Sorry if I'm missing something!

ETA: OK, so I've read back through the thread and they're doing it even when the sellers have been made to refund, too? Interesting...

As it is illegal to sell fakes, what is the legal position of a seller of fakes who has, effectively, been stolen from by the company that has unwittingly processed the illegal transaction, I wonder?

This is really shocking. I agree with handbagangel, why do they want it in the original condition? This is all so strange... I can't believe they can get away with this.

I've read something about that when I was new to PP. Sometimes you need to send the item to them and all that.

I am just shocked, stunned and speechless at how you have uncovered this whole mess. & so proud at the same time. I am also sad for those that unknowingly buy these fakes resold on eBay thinking they are getting a good deal. Those isoldit stores etc are supposed to only take authentic items and knowing that they are buying these "lots" from the Liquidators..............do they know where these fakes come from and who they support!?!?!?!? Not to get on my bandwagon but they support very bad people to do horrible things to good people and this is just disgusting.

If you need add't e-mail/internet support to bring these people down and out into the light, you have my full support.
