wow....is all i can say...FRAUD- this is FRAUD big time..
but i doubt the fbi or anyone will do anything to bring down Ebay or paypal for that matter.. Its a huge money making business and however flawed it may be its like the only REAL site you can sell legitimately on... As bad as the economy is now, if this site is closed for even one day- we will all feel the effects of it.. seriously.
no one business is 100% ..

This happened to me too, but when I told them it was illegal to send a fake bag in the mail they asked for a stat dec declaring that I had the bag destroyed instead...then I got my money back.

Update

I went to the local FBI field office and they were no help. they would not confiscate the bag.
My husband and I still filed the online complaint for web fraud and now contacted the post master general, so we will see what pans out.

I will NOT ship the bag back to paypal so that someone else can get scammed.

I have an open dispute with my bank and will advise paypal to not close the dispute as other agencies are involved and an investiagtion is pending, if they do then I will sue them for breach of contract, for closing the dispute.

Now THIS is fabulous! At least you are standing up to them. The FBI field office did nothing? I have heard that the Postmaster General can get better results in these cases, anyway. Just wanted to say I love your spirit. Good for you!

This is pretty shocking!

I understand them liquidating SNAD condition items, where they can't recoup the money from the seller; but fakes?

Are you saying that I can ask my bank to get a charge back based on a counterfeit item? I have 4 days left to give paypal a 3rd party authentication of a fake. I am so stress, I don't know what to do.

I am glad you are standing your ground on this

I hope that the online complain and post master general are more helpful than the FBI were in this case.

You know this totally explains those sellers who blatently sell tons of fakes and yet their auctions never get pulled and they never get suspended. They are probably the pipeline for paypals confiscated fakes so ebay dismisses all reports one them.

I remember very well the story that was posted at the forums, it was one eBay user who won her dispute for a fake Chanel. She also was asked by Paypal to ship to "their" address which she promptly did. But then after shipping she became curious to know more about it, and posted the Q on the forum and people immediately started googling the address up and we found out it was an isoldit! location. We did a little more research about it and found the related ebay seller's name to that isoldit! store. We then watched the seller for new listings for Chanel bags. Not less than a month after she sent the bag, the fake Chanel was listed by that seller on eBay. The listing was reported by several members of that forum but eBay would not take it down and someone end up with that fake.

So that is how I picked up on that story. This was about 2yrs ago so this 'reselling' thing has been going on for sometime. Someone else from the other forum should very well remember the story. This doesn't get talked about or reported a lot. My guess is that most people are just happy to see an end to the dispute, which is often drawn out many weeks if not months, and are just understandably wanting to get their money back. So they are not that curious to wonder about the address or what Paypal is doing with the items.
OMG! That was the address I sent the fake Miu Miu bag to. I never questioned what that address is since that email is legit from PayPal. I received my money back within two days. But, eBay resells it? How dare them?!

REPORT IT!

The FBI field agent told me they only get involved is if the amount is $20k +
But they do keep recieve reports on the www.ic3.gov link I posted, she said that people need to start reporting there, a few reports will not help, they need lots of reports against paypal to show a pattern, this will get them investigated.

If there is a mod on here, please save the link permanently so that folks can report sellers and paypal.

Depends how the funds were withdrawn from your bank account.

If it's debit via visa/mc it's treated like a cc transaction, however the time frame maybe limited.

If it was a check, you will need to contact the bank, they may not require anything other than a claim to file a chargeback, every bank seems to have their own set of rules, so give them a call.

Momoftwo, contact paypal by telephone IMMEDIATELY. Ask if they will accept an email authentication from a reputable authenticator. Then contact Caroldiva (www.caroldiva.com) and purchase an authentication and explain your situation/time constraint. She is very good about doing authentications quickly. But please hurry. Good luck.
