I purchased a Sabrina from Bonanza, which the seller listed as new with tags. Despite the no returns policy, the pictures and seller feedback were good enough that I went ahead with it.

Once the bag arrived, I immediately noticed a small stain on it (that part of the bag wasn't shown in the listing photos). I understand that sometimes little imperfections can go unnoticed, so I thought maybe the seller just hadn't seen it. I contacted her about it and asked if I could send it back to her for a refund, since I had planned on gifting it if it wasn't for the stain.

The seller responded saying that she cannot accept returns because of her no returns policy, and that I should return the bag at a Coach store since she did include the gift receipt with it, dated 2009. However, I would much rather get an actual refund than store credit, and I don't feel like I should have to go through any of that anyway since the stain was already there when I opened the package.

How should I go about this, should I file some kind of claim? What would you do? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time!

I would contact bonanza and tell them the item is not as described and see if you can file a claim.

You should still be able to file a SNAD if you paid via Paypal!

Wow, who knows even if you were to return it what your refund price would be versus what you paid for it. I would try to contact the seller one more time and let them know that if you can't resolve this, you will file a claim. Maybe she/he will be a little more willing to work with you.

You bought a NWT bag, so you should expect a new bag. I would ask the seller once more, pointing out that a new bag should not have a stain. If the seller still refuses to help, next I would ask Bonanza for advice. They may email the seller and ask them to take the return. If that fails, then the claim through paypal would be the next step.

Absolutely agree here... and why would you be expected to return a bag

bought at Coach in 2009.. what makes your seller think that Coach would

accept a return after 3 years... if your seller is uncooperative and you used

a credit card & you paid via pp, file a claim...

I agree with the above; you bought what you thought was a NWT bag, and it's not your responsibility to take it to a Coach store, who, if they took it back, would likely want to give you the lowest price it sold for since 2009, as that is a very long time. I don't know Coach's return policy, but most stores wouldn't take a 3 year old return anyway. I would definitely contact Bonanza first, and if that didn't work out, contact paypal and ask what they advise.

Be the change
Unless it has recently changed, coach has no time limit on returns. I fact, if you have the receipt, they will give you full credit. I think the only exception. Is if it was a factory purchase. But even then, if you have the receipt, you would be fine and get full value. Have you tried calling the coach store to tell them you have the bag and the receipt? I'm sure they could give you more details if you wanted to pursue that option.

Good luck - I'm sure it will all work out well and how nice of you to gift such a great bag!

If you paid with a credit card and the seller is difficult about the refund, you can always do a chargeback later on down the line. In my experience Bonanza will ask the seller to accept a return but they won't make her. I've been through a similar experience with Bonanza and while they are good to sellers they can be rather difficult to buyers who have problems.

Wow, that is a really good policy to give full credit with no time limit for returns. Will they give the credit to another person, or only the one who originally bought the item, using the same method of payment?

I'd say that's a very liberal return policy and if it is the case, don't

think that I would want to be making the return....

The only problem is that the buyer would get store credit, and the price of the bag may well have increased a bit from 2009 to 2012, thus making the buyer "not whole" with regards to the sale (i.e. she may not be able to get the same bag for the return price).

And it may very well be that the seller knew this and that is why she didn't just return it herself.

If I was the buyer, I wouldn't want to deal with returning 3 years old purchase (with stain!) even with Coach's liberal return policy.

Things purchased on Bonanza should stay within Bonanza's transaction.
Means the seller should accept the return and issue the refund.
