I know fd is hard when you get a unjustified neg but i would like to see how other buyers experience was with that seller before i buy from them. They also don't remove items that have been sold

eh I wouldn't sell their or buy
The $65 pretty much paid them for the 2-3 hours they spent coaching me on photos, listings, styles, guarantee, ect. They even took the time to go through my tPF collections thread to establish my experience and taste level since I didn't have any items up online at the time.

The $75 per month and 3% fee seems reasonable to me based on the value of the items I am selling. eBay takes 12%+ of the items you sell now, not to mention the Paypal fee. Since it is Malleries when I receive an offer that is $100-200 lower than my asking price then I request money order or check to offset the cost of Paypal, which buyers have been happy to do because I am very thorough in my pictures and listings.

For items that have sold- it is up to the each individual seller to remove their sold items. Since each can have up to 75 items, many wait until they need the room to delete those listings. In a way it helps establish a reputation for sellers since buyers can see that they have sold many items before.

As for feedback, it is soooo a double edged sword IMO. Take eBay for example- when buyers and sellers could both leave negative feedback some buyers were afraid to be honest for fear of a retalitory negative. Now that only buyers can leave negative, it seems like many more negatives are given out with less and less reason for it. Malleries doesn't just let ANYONE sell, so it if a seller receives negative responses from buyers then it is likely that they will no longer be able to sell on the site.

All sellers on Malleries have a proven track record elsewhere on-line (which is usually ebay)....they have to have that amongst other requirements to even qualify to sell on the site, so a buyer can check a Malleries seller's feedback and/or history. I use feedback as only one piece of the puzzle. Along with other checks, I also search a seller's reputation right here on tPF as I find that's even better than a one line sentence that you see on ebay.
It's up to individual shop owners to maintain their stores on the site and some clear out past sold items quickly and others leave them up for a period of time for reference, or to show potential buyers past items they have sold, etc.

Their are no minimums for keeping your shop open, but it's not really for the casual seller. It's more for small business owners who are selling on a regular basis, imo.
I agree! Also- professional websites and sellers can only give anyone so much reassurance...the rest is up to the saavy buyer to do a few checks on their own!

LeeLee- you may send an email to Malleries Customer Care at info@malleries.com and put in the subject ATTN: Elizabeth.
It is still a very small company, but I know overall they do more than 2 million in revenue for their sellers.

Glad to hear you have had such a great experience on Malleries and there ARE good/authentic sellers on Malleries.

However, plenty of successful sellers have left Malleries as well, over the past year, due to a variety of problems. No need to rehash the issues, just need to point out that it's not the "end all" website to sell your items on. It has its own set of problems/issues, just as any other online selling venue does.

I've personally bought from Chanel and More, on Malleries, and she has awesome items.

Good luck with your sales.

I agree, there are kinks to work out! Absolutely! I'm not totally 1 sided on this (though my posts have probably reflected that). I have had some issues, especially with checkout procedures and having to direct my buyers on how to proceed after making an offer. I have also had some very busy weeks and some very slow weeks. I do think that they are doing their best to answer emails and work out issues.

When I set up my booth (because I'm not a big time seller) I gave it X amount of months to see how I did for the $75 per month. If it didn't go well then I was going to list on eBay and be done. So I guess I went into this knowing I wouldn't be there forever, but it has been successful thus far.

very interesting ~ thanks for all the information!

has anyone had success selling hermes bags on malleries? once you get to birkin prices the malleries 3% fee can exceed the feebay final value fee charged ~ so i'm more interested in volume and ease of sales, and whether buyers are comfortable enough to pay via wire or check rather than credit card at that pricepoint.

That would be good to know! The highest value item I've sold was $2400, and the buyer paid by check (I allowed it since I had control of the item) and was more than happy to do so.

ETA: EBay (I hope this is accurate)
Equal to or Over $1000.01
8.75% of the initial $25.00 ($2.19), plus 3.50% of the initial $25.01 - $1,000.00 ($34.12), plus 1.50% of the remaining closing value balance($1000.01 - closing value

I think the difference lies in that I think items tend to sell at a higher amount on Malleries, which offsets the final value fee price.

amourcouture, i think that's right for auction style listings, but for fixed price listings it's higher: 12.00% of the initial $50.00, plus 9.00% of the initial $50.01-$1,000.00, plus 2% of the remaining closing value balance ($1,000.01 - closing value). that works out to almost $100 for the first $1000 and then 2% of everything over that.

thanks for the link cyndee ~ i couldn't figure out how to see sold items on malleries.

looks like this is really worth checking out!

Hermes sells well on Malleries, but we delete sold items after awhile to keep our cost down, so I would not go by simply looking at sold items. It is a great site (for both buying and selling) with very fair practices and great support.
