Thumbs down "Like New." Really?

So I won this Coach Pouch.

The seller used words such as: "like new" & "used a few times."

A "barely visible" mark on the bottom is admitted.

Yet, when I got it I was able to spot about 5 marks on it! One on the front!
Even on the leather strap!

They are faint, but they are there.

I'm just very disappointed with the wording... misrepresentation is one of my biggest pet peeves

I have messaged the seller and I'm requesting she refunds me for the shipping back with DC since she did not care to send
the pouch with DC .

I'm not worried about getting my money back.

£bÅ¥ frowns upon SNAD items these days and she should be accommodating, no?

Anyone else with "like new" purchases, that didn't turn out so new?

Anyhow, thanks for letting me rant...

oh miss Evy! that is terrible. There seems to be loads of "like new" items on eBay and they turn up old and used. It really sucks!

Hopefully your seller will be nice about it. To me that would be SNAD too! x

to be honest, when people say that things arent BNWT i just assume they are going to be 'used' ... i think one person thinks 'practically new' and another might think 'gross, you're kidding?!'

Everyone's version of a condition is different, but if the seller made a comment on one mark on the pouch, I'm sure she saw the other marks and should of disclose them. It really bothers me too when sellers misrepresent the condition.

"This bag has been used a few times. The only imperfection is a small pink dot on the bottom of the bag. It is barely visable. There are no other spots, stains, or tears on this bag."

Right there she is dismissing the other visible marks I was able to spot by just looking at it
Looking hard I spotted the one mark on the leather strap

Furthermore, the pouch has clearly been used more than "a few times." More like many times...

I find that it's better to expect the contition to be worse than they describe it, proportionitly.

I have had this sort of thing (and worse) happen to me on numerous occasions - despite being pessimistic and expecting items to arrive in slightly worse condition than described.

There have been several threads on this subject and it's clearly a very common problem.

I know that's the common excuse, but I don't think they think 'practically new', at all.

Unless they have a sight impairment (in which case, they should ask for a friend's help), they know what they're doing...

Condition can only be considered to be subjective within a very narrow margin, IMHO and ignoring obvious marks, flaws and signs of wear is not a question of subjectivity, but blatant and intentional neglect of one's legal duty as seller.

She shoudl refund you ALL the money (shipping too) and pay to have it shipped back to her!
I once had an LV lexington listed and when the buyer got it she noticed a rip in the d-ring. It was really small so I never noticed it -- but since I never noticed it I never took pics of it so I felt like that was misleading and I gave her a full refund.

I think its unfair to say new even if the item has minor marks. It may have been for a gift and then it would not be appropriate. I would ask for a full refund.

Default "Like New." Really? UPDATE

So she finally agree to refund me in full (with a little nudge) plus $5 to ship it back. She even refunded my Paypal account the day I gave her the tracking number

Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions on this ordeal...

Until next time... Hopefully there won't be?

as a buyer i wouldn't buy an item based solely on the seller's judgment. his/her judgment clearly wouldn't be objective as he/she clearly has an agenda - to sell the item for as much $$$ as possible! i would always look at the pictures or request pictures of the items and judge for myself. if the seller isn't cooperative and refuses to send pictures, then maybe it's not a good idea to bid on his/her auction in the first place.
