Default Kinda freaking out here...help, please!

So I had an icky eBay experience last week which basically boiled down to me receiving the NASTIEST Marc Jacobs bag which had been described as "nearly perfect". The seller's pics were rather dark and when I asked for specific descriptions of damage/wear/etc. she basically fed me a line. I emailed her immediately upon receiving it, took photos of all the damage (which was SIGNIFICANT) and got a very rude reply wherein she basically said, "I sent photos. What you see is what you get." Even though the photos didn't show any of the damage and her email responses made it sound like the bag was in EUC. So I requested a refund through Paypal and they let me know she'd agreed but it was showing as pending. Paypal said it could take a few days to show up as having cleared. So I UPSed the bag back to her on Friday. Well, now it's STILL showing as pending and I can't get any responses from Paypal to see what's going on. I'm afraid she didn't have the funds and now I've shipped the bag back. Can I get stuck without my money AND without the merchandise? Freaking out!!
P.S. The refund should be for $365. TIA for any assistance!!

Gosh PM you havent recieved the refund for that sorry excuse for a bag yet? Ive only given a refund a couple of times but the last one the buyer wrote me to say thanks and it was within 20 minutes from when i refunded her. So is the refund in your account and just hasnt cleared yet? Do you have a claim opened?

Make sure all your details are correct in Paypal, just to be sure something your end isnt holding up payment. If you sent with delivery confirmation you can prove its gone back later if you need to. Please do call Paypal, someone should be able to help you. good luck

It shows pending because she didnt have enough funds in her account at the time of the return. This happened to me. PP told me that if the person doesnt have enough funds in their account, it will show pending until there is enough money to cover the return. The rep said that this could take however long.

For piece of mind you should've held the bag until the cash was in your account.

Yikes! Wish I'd known!! Luckily I sent the bag back with delivery confirmation so I at least have proof I sent it back, but I don't know if PP covers that if she screws me on the money. She was NOT a nice person when I asked for the refund so I hope I didn't just make a big mistake...

Oh no, it was the poor Stella, right? I'm so sorry that you have to go through all this. The seller should have been ashamed of herself and refunded you right away. Looking at that bag made me sick to my stomack.

I would think the seller must have agreed to the refund and paypal would be allowed the take that amount.

Did you pay with your credit card? You could always contact your credit card company and do a charge back in case you don't get your money back. I would give paypal another week and then contact them if the refund still didn't get through.

The refund does take a little while to go through so don't worry. So long as you have proof that you posted it back you should be fine :) x

I'm thinking the reason it is showing as pending is because when she tried to do the return, she didn't have the funds in her PayPal account, doesn't necessarily mean that she doesn't have the funds period. So she most likely did an eCheck which takes 3-4 days to clear. That's why it says pending, nothing else. Don't panic yet.

I had to do an eCheck with a refund that I did (on a Coach purse that I decided to keep) and because I immediately pull all the funds out of my PayPal account, I had to do an eCheck, but it cleared in 3-4 days. The buyer was fine with that but I also explained it to her as well.

Sounds like this seller isn't giving you ANY communication at all, which can be frustrating.

But I assure you, it's showing as pending because she most likely had to refund you via eCheck.

Also, I'm curious. Why did she refund you before receiving the bag? Usually it's the other way around? Just curious.

I too saw your post on the MJ board. Blimey!! What did the seller do to that poor bag?!! A few stratches!! It looks like its been through a combine harvester!! Honestly I dont understand some people, yes a bag is to be used but look after it for heavens sake!!
