Is it just this time of year, or has eBay been slow for awhile?

I am trying to sell two Balenciaga's on eBay. I have a BIN or Best Offer price, but nobody is making any offers! This is the second time I've listed them. Is it just slow around this time of year. When do you think it will pick up again. I'm tempted to send them to a consignment retailer.

I noticed BBag didn't move much lately. I believe it was because the 2008 new colors are coming out so buyers are spending their money on them. I experienced relisting three to four times, but more than half were sold eventually. Consignment stores are an easy way to sell your bags, but they charge quite a bit, also they will cut your price if they are not sold within a certain days. I'd suggest you hold on for a couple mor months and relist them.

December has been my slowest month all year--by a LOT. I normally sell between $25K and $40K each month like clockwork, and this month I'm at a touch under $10K--almost all in smaller items that are well under $1000 each.

I think it's because with things like expensive bags, they're items that people buy for themselves, and in December those customers are focused more on buying gifts for other people, thinking about taxes, closing out their books, etc. I often see a big increase in sales of higher end items after Christmas, so that's what I'm hoping for--everything in my store is going on sale on Dec. 25th! Let's hope a lot of ladies got $$$ for Christmas and want to buy a bag with it!

Just give it time. I had a few B-bags listed for a while and I finally sold two. I still have two or three more to go but I figured about a week after Christmas, things really will slow down when those holiday credit card bills start rolling in.

I totally agree!! As many of you know, I sell highend handbags in my eBay store. It has been quite slow this holiday season. I think not only is our economy down but many of these high end handbags are what people buy for themselves and not as gifts. In years past, January has been very strong after Christmas. I think people have spending money and don't feel as guilty buying for themselves and not for others.

I was pretty lucky. I listed 9 Coach bags and they all sold for a decent amount of money. I have more to sell so I hope eBay picks up even more after the Holidays.

From what I've seen it has been slow - hopefully by the end of January it will pick up!

It is very slow this Christmas.
However, unless you have a high rating as a seller it is possible that buyers are afraid to buy from new sellers with few feedback ratings as there are sooooo many fake bags on eBay.

Yes, it had been slow for a while. I've listed some LV bags and didn't sell untill 2nd relisted. Also,a Longines diamond watch I've relisted 3 times and still can't sell
