I was interested in this item (have posted it in the COACH authentication forum), but I'm pretty sure they can't say they aren't responsible for lost items? This makes me want to steer clear, but I just want to make sure I'm not wrong. I thought I read on here a while back that the seller is responsible for insurance - esp. if something never make it to the buyer? This is sending up some red flags for me - should it?
Would love some clarification from you guys. ________________________ "Insurance: Insurance is optional however if buyers do not insure this item we will not be responsible for any items that are lost, stolen or damaged in anyway etc. Please contact us if you would like to add optional insurance." I believe it is technically against the rules, yes, but more specifically, the seller will automatically lose out on a Paypal claim the buyer makes if the insurance isn't purchased because the seller must make sure the item reaches the buyer as per eBay rules. Insurance is just as much to protect the seller as the buyer, if not moreso nowadays.
I wouldn't be so much worried about red flags - it is the seller will lose out if the item doesn't reach you in the state it is supposed to, not you. If you pay by Paypal with your credit card you'll be fine even if the item gets lost/damaged, I'd warrant. |

Simple: It is the seller's responsibility to "deliver" the item to you; therefore, it's to the seller's benefit to buy insurance--for her/his own protection. PayPal Buyer Protection covers you if the item is lost, not the seller. So the seller, not the buyer, buys the insurance. That disclaimer is BS.

Thanks ladies - that's pretty much what I thought I read on here. I guess it sends up a red flag because it seems like they are trying to bully the buyer a little, and that doesn't leave me with a good feeling if you know what I mean.
I think I'll pass on this one, I just don't like how it sounds. Not like there aren't a million COACH items on ebay.

I agree with Karmen.
OP - This has nothing to do with your post. I wanted to say I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your avatar! My son named one of his chinchillas, "Dexter"! |
