Default Is it just me or is shipping to Italy a nightmare ?

I've had atleast 6-7 packages to Italy go "missing" this year out of which 3 re-appeared on eBay being sold by the buyers after a couple months
Is this just happening to me or has this happened to others ? And its not even like I shipped via Priority or First class. They were all Express Mail.

I know Italian postal system is not reliable, but I think some Italian buyers are taking advantage of those irregularities to their benefit. I've stopped shipping to Italy but I also feel that there has to be a way around this ( most buyers these days are from Europe anyway, due to the dollar-Euro rate). Sigh !

Sorry, just needed to vent.

A lot of sellers on eBay's board had stop selling to Italian buyers due to the rate of missing packages. I also stopped selling to buyers from Italy because I can't get insurance for the packages.

I haven't had a problem, but my items are ussually only between $100-$200, maybe that is the reason.

Yes, I also got several questions about shipping to Italy. There's still a honest person there so if they're really love our items, let them pay by bank wire or Western Union

I have shipped to Italy but only after payment by wire transfer (bank to bank) and it has cleared. I have a Euro acct in Ireland, so I accept payment made to that acct. I have had no problem.

Don't accept Paypal for shipments to Italy, especially high ticket items. Being out 200 bucks is one thing 1k is another.
Cheers,

How could you sound harsh? Just explain you're not willing to ship to Italy due to the high % of lost parcels...if someone should answer that to me i would not feel offended...

Just wondering, didn't want to start a new thread, do some of you ship to some countries and not others? I am selling 2 bags and getting tons of emails from all over: austrailia, china, UK, spain. Anyway, I've responded that I am only shipping within the U.S. However, the UK email I haven't answered as I've shipped there in the past w/no problems. I'm wondering if i did answer "yes" to the uk person, will it come back to haunt me? I mean, I'm saying one thing to some potential buyers and responding another way to others. KWIM? I'm thinking if I say no I will not ship to Spain, only US, then The winner is from UK, will I get in trouble?

Uk, Spain and Australia are all fine. China is ok too but sometimes I worry about selling it to a counterfeiter (happened a while back with a Jimmy Choo bag ---saw the same person list about 5 of the same ones and they did not look right).

Use Express Mail for all of your internation shipping. Never use Priority or FIrst Class.
