Default international shipping & postage tracking number?

hi everi1..

i've just got a quick question,
with international shipping, is there a way in which seller would be able to provide postage tracking number so that i could track the postage and see whether or not he/she sent it or whether it has arrive?

well... thing is, i've been burnt before by a seller who did not provide a postage tracking number and she did not send the bag + took my money and ran away. am still waiting for the bank to do a credit card chargeback but i hasnt heard from them... i guess its not a good sign..

aniwai.. and now im purchasing another bag from eBay, i asked the seller to choose a shipping method in which i would be able to have a postage tracking number that i can track. she said she'd ship the bag once i pay, so i paid for the purchase.
she sent me a message this morning,

"I just wanted to let you know that your package got shipped off
today. I did everything I could to get a tracking number, but
unless I upgraded the shipping service to express (which was
$78), they could not give me a tracking number out of country.
Because of that I had it insured just in case anything happens to
it and you don't receive it. I'm truly sorry, but it should arrive at
your door within a week. Thank you!"

.....................
do you think she's being honest about international shipping with no postage tracking number?!..
and what does she meant by insured the package?!.....

oh dear.... i am praying so hard that shes being honest and the package arrive..

She is absolutely honest and correct. No tracking number once parcel leaves the country shores unless shipped by EMS (Express) or a private courier service like Fedex and UPS.

Same thing would happen with Australia Post to another country.

if she shipped it via USPS express mail...there should be a tracking number..it should start with EC or something like that...express always has that...even priority mail has that..starts with CJ or CP but is only trackable from the US...there are select countries where the item can be tracked even if it leaves the US tho...but once it leaves the US..you just gotta wait for a notice from your PO that the item is ready for pickup

when she insured the package..it means that she fully insured the item to its full value so in case of loss...the seller will be able to refund u

ITA with VPT. Your seller may use the cheaper method. IT has no tracking number and takes a long time for item to arrive but she also has no seller's protection if she ship item without tracking number.

EMS or USPS Global Express is expensive, the cost around what she said $78 for a bagin medium size.

100% true If parcel is send via ordinary airmail(cheapest), she may not have tracking number.

but seller said she upgraded to express..and a LV watercolor speedy 35 with box and everything costs $60 to ship via EMS to asia...shouldnt the amount of 78 include that?

another tpfr once told me that she paid around $46 for express post and bag was insured up to $1500...

I have no idea who is shipping from where to where, but I ship from Tennessee to Singapore and other parts of Asia frequently. I use nothing except EMS and I always fully insure. I may not be shipping as expensive an item, but I have shipped bags insured for $2200 and it cost me about $50.

To the OP: I'm sure your bag will arrive. Don't panic. However, your seller may have exxagerated the cost of shipping via Express Mail. Best of luck!
