Thumbs down I'm FINISHED. Quitting eBay after SEVEN YEARS

I'm done with being jerked around by eBay. Done, done and done. After receiving the "review of your account" letter screwing me to NINETY DAY wait for listings of designer goods, I replied to their email and told them to drop dead. I don't need this mistreatment especially when I see the counterfeiters merrily ripping off buyers every second.

Here's my last reply when I sent in the close account form:

I'm completely disgusted with you people now. I've been a top notch
buyer and seller for seven years. You thank me by putting selling restrictions
on my account for NINETY DAYS??? What's the point of letting you keep taking my
money for fees and the fees of sellers I've purchased from. It's gone too far.
You continually ALLOW counterfeiters to sell their fake merchandise but punish
good eBay members. I've had enough. Take your 90 day restriction and shove it.
I want my account closed.

Some of you here have purchased and sold things to me on eBay. If you see Unregistered or No Longer Registered User by my eBay ID, I wanted to let it be known why. If you don't remember my ID, (assuming it's OK with the Mods), feel free to PM me and I'll give it to you.

I'm done. I'm not authenticating bags on tPF any longer either. Sorry guys, but I just can't keep doing that in all good conscience when if eBay was doing THEIR job, it wouldn't be necessary.

Sorry for the early morning rant, but I'm furious and I've had enough!

There are sooooo many sellers who are fed up with eBay these days. Why did they send you a letter reviewing your account? And why the 90 day restriction? If you don't mind my asking, that is. I'm not trying to be nosey, it's just that I've been selling on eBay for almost 10 years. I was a Gold Power Seller for quite some time until my sales dropped off not too long ago. They bumped me down to Silver. But I've never heard of any letter to review your account! That freaks me out a little. No. A lot, actually.

Although I don't visit the Authenticate This threads too often, I am sorry you are leaving there. I am sure you were helpful and will be missed but I totally get it and don't blame you one bit. You are RIGHT. eBay needs to do their job. They've made millions of dollars off of counterfeit merchandise and enough is enough already.

Aw no! I am so sorry that eBay have messed you around. They are loosing customers really fast recently.

I love the wording on your account closure form - spectacular! I really don't blame you for telling eBay to shove it - they have become terrible and seem to have no regard for the people that make them honest money as opposed to dirty illegal money from fakes.

Its great to see a seller stand up for themselves! well done you! x

I am so sorry, Prada Psycho. I am sorry that eBay did the 90 day restriction on you. I know what that feels like. That happened to me about a year and a half ago - long story - and I won't go into it, but I was devastated, angry, and felt like I had no recourse against them. I think that is the worst part about it - the feeling of loss of control. Because when you are dealing with ebay, you really are helpless. You are talking with people on the phone who don't know what they are talking about - if you can even talk with anyone on the phone!

It's all a "throw the baby out with the bath water" knee jerk reaction to the LV and Hermes lawsuits that have been won against eBay. Ever since the first of this month, nearly anyone trying to sell designer goods got nailed with listing restrictions, sellers that were much more active than me, in fact.

The letter (email) was a reply to my email to them DEMANDING that they remove the 30 day listing restriction on my account. They didn't just email me out of the blue. And instead of removing my listing restrictions, they upped it to 90 days "after carefully reviewing your account." I had perfect feedback as a buyer and seller for seven years. Spotless record, paid my seller fees in full on time, paid for auctions and BINs immediately, shipped within 24-48 hours when I sold something. Now all this sounds like a really good reason to penalize me, doesn't it......

Here's the email I got from those crooks. Check out the sentence I put in red. What do they think I've been doing for the past seven years with nearly 700 positive feedbacks, no negatives and paying my bills on time??

Thank you for writing eBay in regard to the restrictions you've recently
experienced on your account. I apologize for the delay in our response
to you as we've been experiencing unusually high email volume.***

***Gee do you think it might be because they blanket restricted 90% of their sellers that list designer goods??

eBay is committed to reducing fraud and negative buying experiences on
our site. In order to help maintain safety in the marketplace, we may
restrict the number of items that sellers may list.

After a careful review of your account and history with us, we have
determined that your current selling limits will remain unchanged.
Please contact us after 90 days, and we will review your account again.
In the meantime, we encourage you to continue to build a positive
selling history on eBay and to comply with all policies.

Please visit the eBay's Help pages for more information on our listing
policies and guidelines:

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Mycroft

PP, I'm so sorry about this - you're fabulous seller and don't deserve it!

I hate that they are doing this to good sellers, old or new. Funny, I've seen that form letter myself, and received another one last night. (I love how they send you back to the seller rules, which don't really give any rules at all.)

BTW: "Mycroft"

Sounds like the regular BS that the BAY continues to bring on, and I wonder if they realize how many are abandoning ship?

That really sucks and it is their loss! I think most of us here totally know how you feel as most of us here got that same letter. I'm not really sure what to tell you other than to buck up and they will get their comeuppance sooner or later for treating their customers so miserably!

PP, there are SO MANY good sellers got restricted while they were udpating their listings. Once they appealed to eBay, the restriction was extended to 90 days. This is an eBay formula, not to you individually. I know dealing with eBay is very frustrating. There got to have some companies can come up to make some good auction sites.
