Thumbs down I think I'm about done with ebay.

So I've been selling casually for about a year with 100% positive and today I've received a neutral from a buyer who wasn't even sure there was a problem, and never contacted me to discuss it. My feedback has dropped to 96.3 by receiving 1 neutral from 50 feedbacks!

So I figure no-one is going to buy high value items from such a low percentage and there really isn't much point sticking around on eBay. Sadly it's going to take them 180 days to close the account. What a joy these next 6 months will be.

wow 180 days to close your account! thats insane!!!

Unfortuantly now with neutrals they count the same as negatives, so i can see it has really hit your feedback %.

Why wasn't the buuyer sure if there as a problem? It is annoying when they leave feedback before contacting you, have you spoken to eBay about it? They might be able to do somthing about it if they didnt contact you to rectify the problem before leaving FB.

Im sorry eBay is being really harsh recently, and its bad that you were probably a very good seller - which right now ebay could do with keeping! Sorry to see you go but don't leave us here on tPF, we love you! X

I know I can't understand why they need you to wait like that - it's probably trying to discourage you.

The buyer thought the item may not have been real - but if that was the case she should have contacted me so I could send her a receipt or something! I stand by my items and now my feedback looks awful!

*hugs* im so sorry about this. The buyer should feel bad that they didnt contact you first off. Have you spoken to the buyer about their feedback? Would they be willing to contatc eBay and get it removed if you can rectify the problem. It's always worth a try x

Don't let this get at you. Keep going or find another route. You can even set up your own website.

I noted when I sent the invoice to the buyer that they seem to have left a lot of negative and neutral feedback, so I assumed they would be hard to please. But it's pretty unfair of them to ruin my reputation without a second thought. Oh well.

I don't know, Bella, if I were you, I'd get in contact with both the buyer and eBay & try to rectify this.

That is to bad! For one person to just thoughtlessly mess up a lot of time/effort on your part...it may be worth calling, I think feedback can be mutually withdrawn sometimes...

Why not contact them again and say that you can provide a receipt or something. You should be able to mutually withdraw the feedback if you get the buyer on side

Hang in there. I have heard that in the next month or so, eBay is changing the FB system AGAIN. They will no longer be calculating neutrals into your percentage. So most likely when/if this does happen, your FB percentage will be back to 100%.

Not only that, because it was only a neutral, I wouldn't stop selling entirely. Heck no. You'd be surprised how many sellers on eBay are selling with a much, much lower percentage and they're doing just fine.

Don't give up the fight yet.

Always not as easy as it sounds.

I, too, have my own website selling my pop art prints, and haven't sold one, single thing from my website. There isn't nearly as much traffic there as on eBay. I hate to say it, but it's true. And I have had my website up and running since 2003.

It's really terrible that one neutral can do that to you. I would try to have the feedback mutually withdrawn, if possible. While a low feedback number DOES deter me, if the item is something I really want, I review the negative/neutral remarks carefully and the feedback of the person leaving them. If the buyer seems like a malcontent, I consider the source and bid.

Maybe this is just me, but I wouldn't let one neutral feedback deter you from using eBay - even if it did lower your feedback percentage.

As a buyer, I can tell you that for me personally - I read through all of a seller's feedback. I'm not sure I've ever actually looked or considered the percentage heavily. As long as all of your other feedback is good, I wouldn't worry about.

Keep your eBay account and try to see if you can have ebay remove the neutral.

Bella,
Don't close your account just yet. The feedback changes will be in effect soon and you may regret it. Everyone who buys on eBay regularly knows to check feedback now and will look at the "whole" picture. You can post a reply underneath the feedback too explaining your side. When a Seller has a neg. or neutral, I always look at the feedback of the buyer who left it. There is usually a pattern and if she's done this a lot, most people will dismiss her opinion altogether.
