Default I paid w/Paypal, status unclaimed

I just bought a bag on eBay and paid immediately with Paypal. When I look at the transaction on paypal, it says unclaimed. What does this mean? This is a new seller, but it says they are verified...

My first thought was that the email addy was an error but you said that the account is verified so I think that means they have it linked to a bank account.

It is possible that the Paypal account you sent the payment to is a Personal account and needs the recipients approval (they will have to incur the 3% fee and/or upgrade to a Premier account). Personal accounts can only take funded payments with no fees incurred. (funded = existing funds or bank account funds transferred from a savings or checking account)

^^thanks so much! This happened once before and I couldn't remember the reason. I guess I will just have to wait for her answer as I did send an e-mail.

...just had it happen...they didnt update their email address...I called paypal to make sure it wasn't shady, and it wasn't. just wait to hear back from the seller (sometimes its just as simple as a type-o)

I once sold something in the UK (I was there for 4 months), even though I had a US account. When the buyer paid, it was in pounds, and I had to 'claim' the payment. Maybe something similar?

I have had to claim a payment before; just clicked on "claim" in my PayPal history. I don't know why I had to do so, but I found it by accident. Your seller probably has no idea that she has to claim the payment. If you emailed her, that should do it.

Thanks for the help. I have e-mailed the seller and am waiting to hear. I have never had to claim a payment when I have sold before, but like I said, she is a new seller, so hopefully all will go well. I was just worried because it was such a killer deal. I had this happen once before where the seller (new) would not sell me the bag I won as they felt they did not get enough for it in the auction!

I agree with camommyof3. Since it is a new seller, they probably need to upgrade from personal account in order to accept credit card payment.

This happened to me too.. I bought an item for over 1k and paid with my CC and it was unclaimed for like 2 weeks. The scary part was that they sent me the item before claiming the payment!

The seller hasn't even contacted me. The auction just ended yesterday, but I paid immediately. I contacted Paypal and the seller indeed just has a personal account and will have to claim the payment and upgrade their account. I am trying not to keep sending messages, I just wish they would at least contact me!

You know that you are allowed to get the seller's telephone number, don't you? If you are in a transaction with someone, you may request contact info from eBay and they will email it to you. You may already have that link. If not, I'll be glad to furnish it. A phone call may be what is called for in this case. Some people don't check their email every day. At least if you call, you may be able to actually talk to the seller, which will reassure you quite a bit.

She just sent me a couple of messages through eBay which did not address the issue. She sent me an e-mail outside of ebay as well that said she was sent out of town by her employer. She asked if she could wait to ship until she gets back, Thursday at the latest. She also wants to wait until then to claim the payment. She has access to e-mail as we were going back and forth.
I will give her the benefit of the doubt as she is a new seller and may be just confused with Paypal. She seems very nice.
jjyounger...could you please give me the link. Just in case...

Here you go! All you need is your seller's eBay user id and the item number. EBay will email her contact information to you and yours to her. This includes your name, city, state and telephone number - NOT your address. http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQtZvbQQsofindtypeZ9. Hopefully, you won't need it!

I certainly do wish you luck! I'm sure this is yet another PayPal mess-up and it will work out well.
