Default I need to vent!!
I am so mad and worse yet disappointed. I have been waiting and looking at literally for years the Coach suede poppies for peace bag. They always go for close to what they were originally. I finally took the plunge after finding one for what I consider to be a reasonable amount of 185.00. I did the buy it now on monday the 17th. I told this lady that I would like to get it asap because I am leaving on Monday for 2wk vacation. She emailed me and said she would ship as soon as she received $. I bought and paid within about 15 min of each other. Figuring it should be here today or tomorrow at the latest I came home at lunch (because the neighbors dog tends to carry things away) to find that yes the mail had run but no new purse, so I figure tomorrow. Tonight as I always do I checked my email. I get this really nice email telling me that my shoes were shipped today and I hope you get them in time for your vacation. OH my I am pissed. First of all because she waited 3 days to ship knowing I was looking forward to my purchase and Shoes I didnt order Shoes. I emailed her and just imagine I got no response back. Now I am going to have to go to the trouble of arranging for someone to come to my house possibly on more than one day just to pick the package up off the ground where they always lay it. I have asked them to just leave it in the seat of my Suburban and was told we are not allowed. I have also in the past had my mail held for pickup to come home to mail so jammed in the box you cant even get it out. I really dont know what I will do if she actually sent me shoes. Sorry so long but only someone here would understand that I actually NEED a new purse to take on vacation that no one of the other 400 hundred I have will not do.

PS I am so done with ebay. The last three purchases I have made have had problems.. I say to all you ebay sellers. If you dont have time to ship it when you get the $ then dont list it.

Completely unreasonable of you.

Sellers have up to 7 days to ship and still be within PP policy. Unless you paid extra for overnight shipping, you should expect at least 7 calendar days to pass before receiving your item AFTER seller receives payment. In short, allow 10-14 calendar days minimum. If you get it sooner, fine.

If you need it before that, go to a local store.

I think you are absolutely correct in being upset with this seller. She sounds too confused to be selling anywhere. Plus she doesn't seem to know a shoe from a handbag?

This is the key statement: "She emailed me and said she would ship as soon as she received $. I bought and paid within about 15 min of each other."

That seller SHOULD have shipped as soon as she received payment NO MATTER WHAT Paypal's policy is...because she said she would.

I sold on ebay for 8 years and if a buyer paid me immediately - I shipped immediately. Why would I hold on to someone's money for 7 days just because the "policy" says it's OK? It's only COMMON COURTESY for the seller to do what she agreed to do.

I don't think it's unreasonable of her to ask the seller to ship ASAP. I know I ship within 24 hours of payment, and I use priority mail, so normally any item I ship arrives at the buyer's home within 3 to 4 days. If a buyer told me they needed it right away, I would do anything I could to get it in the mail immediately.

Frankly, I don't believe there is any excuse for a seller to wait 3 or 4 days to go to the post office to ship an item. That's just laziness, and I would make sure it reflected in their detailed seller ratings.

OK, Let's backtrack. OP says they bought on the 17th, but they don't mention the time of day. Even if paid immediately, there is no reason to expect that the seller shipped on the 17th. Shipping would be the 18th at the very earliest, probably the 19th unless it was paid with an eCheck. 3-4 days Priority Mail would indicate expected delivery by the 24th or 25th. There is a chance it may arrive by Saturday, the 22nd.

OP posted on the 20th upset that the package had not arrived that day. That's only allowing 2 business days transit time.

Again, the 17th doesn't count as one day. The 18th might if the seller even got your message and your payment. The 19th counts, so if the seller dropped it off at the PO late on the 19th, it wouldn't get into the system until the 20th. I only count 2 days at the most as far as any delay on the seller's part.

Even being shipped the 20th, it may possibly arrive by Saturday.

Again, unless you paid extra for overnight shipping, expecting delivery by the 20th was unreasonable.

It is possible that you still might get the item before going on holiday. However, if you don't you can go on usps.com on saturday and place a hold on your mail for the two weeks you're away.

Bottom line is that seller said she could get it there in time, and should not have said "Yes", should have mailed it when they said they would, emailed with tracking, and not emailed her 3 days later with info on shoes (or possibly sent shoes). These are the kind of things that sellers do that scare away new buyers. The buyers responsibility is to ask questions, and the seller followed up with promises that she didn't follow through with to make the $$.

Now, OP~ I do agree that unless you asked her to overnight for extra cost then there was no way your item would get here by the 20th. If she shipped on the 18th chances are that you would recieved it Sat or Monday. I understand the frustration with the fact that the seller didn't follow through. You should visit USPS website and read about transit times, especially when you are leaving. When you order an item from anywhere unless you pay to overnight it there is always a chance for a delay so it is almost always a bad idea to order something on a short deadline and not buy overnight IMHO. In short, you should be upset that the seller sai they could get it to you in time and sent you a dumb email about shoes, but learn your transit times and don't bid on a deadline to protect yourself (unless you overnight).

sorry i dont see that OP is being unreasonable, she emailed seller told told her deadline, paid within 15min's....it would not have been an e-cheque....seller should have said NO, its not possible....then sends message about shoes, so now OP does not know what she is getting, thats if the dog does not get it 1st.....i see your point with pay pal etc, but i think this case is totally different. alfie :)

That does not mean dropping everything and running down to the PO within 10 minutes after logging in to PP. That does not mean buyer should reasonably expect delivery within 72 hours unless overnight shipping was paid for extra.

I can certainly understand the OP's frustration and I agree that if the seller said she would ship immediately then that is what should have been expected of her. Agreeing to ship after payment is received doesn't mean running down to the post office within ten minutes. Depending on the location of the seller and buyer, Priority Mail is pretty dependable with a 2-3 day delivery. So if the package was shipped even the next day, the 18th, it should be delivery no later than today. Hang in there, OP.

The seller said she would ship as soon as she received the $. What exactly did that mean. The seller did not actually say exactly when she would ship it. It may have sounded like the next day but that was not actually agreed upon. Unless there is extra money, not sure a seller would just run right out to mail items even the next day. And of course, she did not ship the correct item or perhaps she said she shipped shoes and actually shipped a bag. Well, will just have to see.

That said, I live 2 miles from PO and have mailed the same day or the next day but that is just me.

I don't think OP is being unreasonable at all. She was told one thing and her seller did another. Not to mention the seller doesn't even know which items to send where.. that's jacked up.

I can relate to the OP's frustration. I do think that "as soon as possible" is too vague a statement to hold the seller to a particular day of shipment or delivery. I think that even if the seller had shipped the item the next day, Tuesday, assuming you're both in the US, the absolute earliest it would arrive is tomorrow--and that's if nothing were to happen at the USPS to delay it, which would be out of the seller's control.

Quite a few people have found themselves in this situation: buying an item right before they go on a trip, expecting to receive it before they leave. And quite often, this is not the case. IMO, if one needs an item so urgently, then the best chance at getting it in time is to ask and pay for overnight mailing. In my experience, buying on a Monday means that, at best, I might get my package Saturday or, most likely, the following Monday--and that's if the seller process things quickly.

OP: I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you get your bag and not a pair of shoes!

It takes me 3 days to ship it doesn't make me lazy it saves me money and time. I live 35 minutes from the post office 1 hr round trip. Not everybody pays when they should and if you have 40 packages ending on the same day. I wait to try to get everybody together. It is CLEARLY stated in ALL of my listing takes 3 days to ship. And every item that is shipped is a different situation so I cant always use paypal printing system. If I ran to the post office every day. I would be spending a fortune in gas and my time is money as well. So I wait every 3 days UNLESS the item is over $100 then I high tail it to the post office..

ITA with you guys that said it isn't unreasonable to be frustrated. Your seller should have suggested overnight or specified a date of shipment, unfortunately they couldn't follow through with getting it there in time with such a vague idea of when they would ship. Sellers like Red are responsible in letting their buyers know up from which makes for an easier decision in whether or not to bid if you need it ASAP. ASAP for some people is later than others.

Lesson learned...If you need it fast pay the overnight fee (on med sized purses with will range from $15-$30.
